Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I wonder how many parts this will be. They stretched Midgar into its own game. I could see them having part 2 end at Juno and the Cargo ship. Then part 3 where they finally introduce the whole cast with Cid. I always felt that in the original game, Cid was the lead character for parts of Disc 2 just to give screentime for him due to joining so late.

[up][up] Haven't they confirmed it will be three parts? Like I said I feel Part 1: Midgar; Part 2: up to Northern Crater; Part 3: Northern Crater to endgame is the most sensible division.

[up]Oh, I didn't follow that they said that.

Actually, they should go in the opposite direction and make more parts. Golden Saucer should be it's own game.

Also recall that the three discs of the original were not remotely evenly divided into thirds. 1 and 2 are basically the first and second half; 3 is just the final dungeon and endgame side stuff like the superbosses.

Considering that the story from here on out will diverge heavily, I'm not sure we could guess where the second game ends.

Yeah I'm certain we'll get all the same areas and characters and famous events, but I could see the order we do them in being different.

[up][up] Part 2 will end with a Time Crash, resulting in Part 3 being the blowback with multiple variations of the cast appearing, and the setup for finally wiping Sephiroth and Jenova from existence, permanently ending the FF7verse.

...I wish I was joking btw, but it's insane enough to where I could imagine them doing it.

I wonder if we'll actually get resolution for DoC's stinger. The Tsveists are apparently still around in the new timeline...

[up]x3 That actually sounds pretty mild as far as Nomura-isms go (but still pretty cool)

Nomura's the one who didn't want VII:R to go off the rails.

So that IX: Memoria announcement thing? It was a beautiful gameplay trailer (that will never be playable) on how FF9 COULD be remade. I'll be honest, I'd play it.

[up][up]Probably because he was also trying to out swerve everything in Kingdom Hearts.

Elena seems like she'll be fun. She always got overshadowed by Reno and Rude in the OG.
