Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Tetsuya Nomura is still alive and kicking, though. And the games are great action games.
So no, its not like Dune.
Watch SymphogearI decided not to buy KHIII as I knew I had too many expectations going in and it was never going to live up to them. It's fine, I was never a big KH fan to begin with.
Then every story spoiler made it worse.
It made it great for me. Especially Re:Mind.
I love stupid as fuck batshit insane stories.
Watch SymphogearI am pretty casual/neutral about the whole thing.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Honestly, as long as the gameplay is fine, I don't care if a story goes batshit insane.
Watch SymphogearIt didn't help that you had to be familiar with Kingdom Hearts χ, a web game, to make sense of the ending of KH III.
At least with the main line FF games, you don't need to be familiar with tons of other material to be able to enjoy the games on their own merits. Now the side games based on the main games are a different matter.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSome FF games are sequels to others so you'll be a bit lost if you play them first, but at least that's fairly self-explanatory, no different from most other narrative-based series.
Well thats a major problem.
I hate majorly involving mobile games.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."TBF, most FF games don't even have sequels. FF X-2 and the games with Lightning in them are the exceptions.
...Okay so maybe FF XII is more enjoyable if you're more familiar with the rest of the Ivalice based games too. But TBF, FF XII is so far the only main line FF game set in Ivalice.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah but usually they're just one-off sequels. Final Fantasy X-2 came out two years after X and that was it until that novella nobody will ever acknowledge again.
Kingdom Hearts told a single narrative for 17 years and it's still not done.
FFIV has a sequel too. FFVII has multiple sequels (well Dirge is more of a spin-off I guess, but it still continues off from where VII ended).
Yeah, but I don't really consider most of those to be actual numbered entries in the FF series in their own right. Admittedly, part of it is also due to me thinking most of those games, frankly, aren't very good.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYou could argue that for VIIR if this is your first entry in the VII mythos and you’ve somehow avoided every story beat of the original that has been mercilessly spoiled by pop culture osmosis, the big revelations and twists aren’t gonna land for you.
So yeah, no XVI reveal just yet. But we did finally get to see Luminous Productions game!
Resetera insiders have said they were told it was going to be there. Maybe it was a last minute decision?
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Does really look like Agni's Philosophy? What does it have in common other than a lone female protagonist?
Agni's Philosophy had four main things: Female Protagonist, a desert, Monstrous canines and a dragon.
So does that.
While they certainly look like different things, it's easy to draw a line from one to the other.
Even if its not Agni's philosophy itself turned into a game, designs can still be derived from it.
On that note, when FFXXVII is made two centuries from now, I will be right pissed if Squeenix doesn't have the integrity to stick with the female MC teased in Deus Ex: Human Revolution
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyWait, what?
Huh thats a good design.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I dunno, looks an Asian woman who triedcosplaying as a Victorian maid but gave up halfway through.
Yeah, I agree. I stopped caring about the series more or less around the time of BBS and don't find the newer plot threads or characters remotely interesting, but I'm not obligated to purchase any of the newer games so I'm content to just ignore them and let the people who enjoy them, well, enjoy them.
