How specific are we supposed to interpret this?: Loves The Sound Of Screaming

I already asked about this in another thread, though that was image pickin... that cannot be discussed without knowing what the trope is really about, and I figured either here or trope talk would be a better place to discuss it.

"Some people find happiness in hearing a peaceful stream, or the laughter of children, or maybe a beautiful symphony. Others... not so much. Sometimes you'll find people who very openly find joy, solace, or at least, familiarity, in the sounds of suffering and violence."

The description makes it sound like it is specifically about sounds. There are several ways this can be interpreted, here are a few:

1. Loves... the sound of screaming.

2. Enjoys... the sounds of suffering and violence, whatever those sounds may be.

3. Enjoys... the tastes, sounds, sights, or smells associated with suffering and violence.

4. Enjoys... causing suffering.

Just how specific are we supposed to interpret this as being?

I'd say up to 2 usually, with 3 being for some exceptional examples.

Should there be a separate trope for enjoying causing suffering in general then?

For the Evulz means you have no motive other than enjoyment of committing evil deeds. Similarly, Psycho for Hire means their sadistic enjoyment of what they do is their main motive above other motives. One can enjoy causing suffering without that being their main motive.

That said, if "Loves the Sound of Screaming" is supposed to be specifically about the SOUNDS of suffering and violence, perhaps other tropes should be made about other things associated with it (ie. the "tears of unfathomable sadness" pic from Jerkass) and a note should go un the code of the article specifying that it is about sound.

Also, are admins/mods more qualified to interpret tropes than the rest of us, or is that status given to whoever launched them? If the former we could ask the admins/mods what the trope is supposed to be about, and if the latter... well, I assume that at least the admins/mods have some way of tracking whoever launched a trope, whether the rest of us do or not... maybe we could PM whoever launched it?

Admins are not more qualified, but they can put their foot down if an argument goes back and forth without getting anywhere. The trope creator is also not specially qualified, although they can clarify the intent for particularly badly written ones so that we know what angle to start from. This is a wiki, and we primarily work by consensus.
