I mean going by the description, there's nothing that *requires* it to be elves, but if you're proposing a rename, elves still have longevity on their side for being "the arrogant ones"
I think the OP is just adhering to the original remit of this forum to talk about tropes, not necessarily talk about doing anything with them.
I mean, the elves in The Dragon Prince and Skyrim (at least the Thalmor) both definitely have the trope applying to them to one extent or another. So they're bad examples to use if you want to argue that dragons have replaced elves in that regard.
Dragons being large reptiles rather than "humans but cooler" and generally more detached from any society gives it a different vibe than the usual version. (I am not that familiar with the three works you named, so maybe dragons are humanoid there)
Honestly the inclusion of FFXIV Dragons in this confuses me. Mind you I haven't finished Endwalker because I'm suck on a fight. But given the revelations in Heavensward I'm like *quizzical eyebrow*

Yeah you can't really put FFXIV there because there are no elves to use for comparison and the dragons we get there give different vibes.
Haven't played FFXIV myself, but elves being in the work wasn't a requirement in this discussion. OP just pointed out some works where dragons are depicted as infallible.
Agreed. Elves (or equivalent) are not necessary for the discussion at hand, as the OP provided examples of infallible dragons and similar, including works that have no elves or similar.

Kirby is awesome.Except OP brought up FFXIV directly and Elezen are the stand in for elves to the point that in Shadowbringers when you go to an alternate world which is an off shoot of your own world Elezen there are called Elves. I was more bringing up (massive Heavensward spoilers) Dragons there aren't treated as smug think they are superior race really, and their grievances with the mortal races... especially Elezen as it happens is very justified given what started the Dragonsong war was the Elezen city-state of Ishguard outright betraying them and *eating their souls/eyes*.

Between The Dragon Prince, Final Fantasy XIV, and to a lesser extent Skyrim I wonder if more writers are using dragons instead of elves for Can't Argue with Elves.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
