This is bugging the crap out of me. I felt very certain that Disease was a cover of a song from the 70s. I heard the Matchbox 20 version, and went to go look up the original. I thought I had trouble because I did not remember who made it (if I ever knew) Well, turns out Matchbox 20 did it first. But I seem to remember, quite vividly, a version from the 70s existing. I can actually hear it in my head, as well as the singer. It was pretty similar to the MB 20 version, but it wasn't as "stylistic" (no pauses, no muted guitar clicks, etc), and I am pretty sure it had a solo somewhere in there.
I nearly thought Lynrd Skynrd did it, but I went back to refresh my memory on how Ronnie Van Zant sounded, and his voice is deeper, but it felt close to his voice. Anyone else remember this?
