Sound of Freedom clearly has a big base that could be Right Wing and that may be attributing to its success is the point I was making. I could be mistaken though. If I am, I apologize.
Considering how Top Gun: Maverick did last year, there's a few different reasons as to why Dead Reckoning Part One is currently struggling though is what I'm saying. Could be a slow build to impressive success though—and a good example of that is that Jurassic World: Dominion wasn't doing great, but still made its way up to a billion (becoming the third out of five movie to make it there since the pandemic hit).
I actually don't know if Sound of Freedom does have a base. I've seen a lot of people who work in theaters noting that tickets are being bought for the movie, but they seldom actually see anyone in those theater showings.
I'm not exactly sure how valid the accusation is, but something REALLY doesn't smell right with that movie for a fuck ton of reasons. I keep getting a Lani Sarem scam vibe from the whole thing. Especially with how much the creators of it keep screaming about "the man putting us down" and similar such arguments with "Big Hollywood" and trying to throw anyone who criticizes the film into particular labels.
Also, I don't think Oppenheimer is getting much push-back from right wingers because I think there's a degree to which the film curbs just enough to their political views that they don't get offended by it.
For example, the sequences with the security board putting Oppenheimer on trial for his ties to communism. I do think a sufficiently right-sided individual might see those moments as "Calling the hero out" or "Villain has a point" rather than what I think the text actually intended. Assuming they even see such a trial as "villainous/antagonistic" at all.
It should be noted that buying book is a form of money laundering for the GOP's donors.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sound of Freedom is the same.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Sound of Freedom apparently ends with Jim Caviezel talking to the audience and telling them to buy more tickets.
Sound does have a fairly right-leaning fanbase however, those who skew left have liked the film too. I for one am left-leaning and love the film, but I can't stand Ballard and Caviezel's political ramblings during the interviews for the movie. Caviezel did a great performance though.

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectCurious how much do you think this film would have done normally if it weren't for the memes ? (No way would it be heading to 600 million)
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I think it would be moderately successful at first but then get strong legs after a lot of word of mouth.

Oppenheimer having an important message and there probably being a lot of sympathy for Chris Nolan after Tenet struggled during the pandemic will also probably help—and probably does play into the interest too. The unlikely pairing with Barbie of all things is definitely a major contributing factor though.
I heard the sex scene with Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh is gonna be changed in other countries. Odd…
They covered up Pugh with a CGI "dress".
I watched today. I really love it, especially for the fact that what could be a mere chronological shot film actually bounces back and forth like getting hints of what's going on, Especially once we get to know that it was Lewis Strauss who kickstarted the events that led to Oppenheimer's private trial due to having his ego bruised. Combined with the perfectly edited scenes and the score alongside them, and you're getting a big Oscar contender.
But I agree that the second sex scene was a very distracting moment. Like, wouldn't having Oppenheimer being shonw metaphorically naked be enough to show what it communicates to Kitty?
You can't kill art.I actually thought it worked, to have her look Oppenheimer's wife right in the eye while she had sex with him. Really stuck the knife in.
Last week, #Oppenheimer became the first R-rated release ever to gross more than $10 million in a day for seven days in a row. After this weekend, it'll stretch that streak to 10 days
Congratulations.
Also Anyway. Barbie’ Poised To Cross $700M Global Through 2nd Weekend; ‘Oppenheimer’ Closing In On $400M.
Feel like barbie will get one billion easily and Oppenheimer would make 700 million. Both damn impressive.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I am glad this is doing well. Mainly because it is a very good movie.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadA bit late to the party, and yeah, Oppenheimer just grew past 400 million dollars, safely grossing past the break-even point.
Honestly though, I'm really impressed how this movie cost only 100 mil, because with all the A-star names attached, I expected it to be at least twice of that.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Reportedly the actual principal photography was really small for its budget, and the cast was a lot of group scenes or 3-4 smaller scenes, as it stays focused on Oppenheimer himself. You can get a lot of talent if you only ask them for 2 weeks of work.
Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!Ah, fair points.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. That's what you can achieve when you plan out the production properly and don't end up doing endless rewrites and green screen reshoots.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Nolan works very smart. Not surprising. Just seems...yeah strange in this day and age of greenscreen and superhero movie reshoots.
It helps that this is very light on the CGI compared to other contemporaries, with even the explosion being mostly practical.
It's been 3000 years…Oppenheimer crossed 550 million world wide.
Amazing for a 100 million dollar film. 800 million is now possible. Hell if the few markets it hasn't opened in post a good hold. Thinking 1 billion is in the cards.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."It's on track to be the highest grossing movie never to hit #1. I don't think it's gonna overtake Barbie anytime soon.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midSo how far we thinking Oppenheimer will finish in terms of top 10. It's definitely beating the little mermaid. But which others do you think it could beat. Spiderverse seems likely.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I feel like it'll end up sandwiched in-between Spider-Verse and Fast X.
It's been 3000 years…
I... don't see what that has to do with anything. Right-wing reactionaries have the attention span and approximate literacy of very young children, so of course a slow-burn historical character drama doesn't have anything for them to get worked up over, nor would the louder ones particularly enjoy it.
