Those starters look really weird. Mostly cause they all look at least partly Grass typed. [lol]

I initially thought, wait they are releasing/announcing new title already?

Then I realized SS came out in 2019.

Holy crap time went so fast. surprised

I think that new fire starter breaks the chinese zodiac theory at long last.

Honestly, I'm not feeling these ones the same way I instantly did for Gen 7 and 8. The grass one is just "generic anime cat", the water one is "Donald Duck as a basic pokemon" and idk what the fire one is supposed to be.

cat is β€œNyaoha” (β€œNya” is Japanese onomatopoeia for meowing)

dino is β€œHogeeta” (β€œHonoo” means fire, + β€œgeeta” which is the katakana for gator)

duck is β€œKuwass” (quack?)

none have secondary types

player’s shorts and tie are orange or purple depending on version

the website doesn’t name the region

Open World Pokemon is exactly where they've been going with the series. Sw Sh's wild areas were test beds for this.

How it goes remains to be seen.

Holy shit, it's already Gen IX... Then I realised Gen VIII was three years ago, and gens nowadays had three years between them... Maybe it's because it's the only one I didn't play or me becoming an adult, but going from VIII to IX wasn't nearly as major of a length of time as VII to VIII. It's surreal. At least the colors picked are interesting. I'll probably pick the duck if I do play this.

I'm definitely not an expert but I'd like to throw in my two cents.

Based on the architecture of the town square in the trailer as well as the palm trees and the shape of the region in the map in the protagonist's house at the end of the trailer, I'm guessing this region is going to be based on Iberia (Spain and Portugal).

Which also leads me to believe that the Grass starter in particular could be based on the Iberian lynx, a highly-endangered species native only to Iberia and is a symbol of Spain.

No clue about the other two starters, but again, just my two cents.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Yeah and I didn't like the Wild Area. I'm going to wait for more info but if the gameplay is anything like Arceus's I think I'm going to have to finally move on and stick with older games. At least until they return to the classic formula, if ever.

[up][up] That's unlikely to happen. Game Freak seems to be making an open world version of the old gym formula, and they're unlikely to go back. Remakes are likely to stick to the old formula and be more like BDSP.

I like the Fire starter the most.

Which reminds me, Zodiac theory is officially dead. [lol] There's not a crocodile in the Chinese zodiac and we already had a dragon. Unless this represents the snake but that's a huge stretch.

[up] Which lends some credence to my theory that the region is based on Spain. "Gatito" is Spanish for "little cat" while Fuecoco is a combination of the Spanish words for fire (fuego) and crocodile (cocodrilo).

According to the Japanese website the colour of your dork-ass necktie and shorts getup depends on which version you're playing.
