Terminator

. . . Human error is a finicky thing. That is what she has concluded.

. . .

"I presume there was an error you found and had to fix. I do not blame you, but the developers who made the program. You only ran it. And some humans would likely want to get frustrated at the program in question. I will not do that nor act violently towards you or other humans. I would however, according to a human saying 'have some strong words' with the developers of the program in question."

Yea that's what she is going to assume. The past has taught her that the programmers are the ones who fix issues with coding and other programs.

"And I suggest that they check their program for bugs and other code errors. Throughly. Or else I may check for bugs myself next time if given the chance."

Translation: I am not happy with the malfunctioning program in Terminator speak. I wish to express my strongly worded conclusion and what to do next to the creators of it.

The humans would have noticed how strongly she expressed the last part.

NANACHAN // FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION // THE LATEST IN POP IDOL SYNTHESIS TECHNOLOGY // さまざまな色でご利用いただけます。// このユニットはキャプチャできません

"THIS UNIT HAS A SEVERE MALWARE INFECTION. SOURCE IS UNKNOWN," reported the low synthesized tone that Nana now possessed; the rumbling of its voice borderline grating on the ears. "THIS INFECTION IS UNRELATED TO GNOSIA. GNOSIA PRESENT IN PREVIOUS UNITS. THIS INFECTION LOGS AS INTERNAL. HYPOTHESIS: SINGLE UNIT MALFUNCTION SPREAD TO PRIMARY NANACHAN AI NETWORK. POSSIBILITY OF WIDESPREAD INFECTION ACROSS NANACHAN UNITS. THIS UNIT IS CONFIRMED AFFECTED. EFFECTS OF MALICIOUS SOFTWARE ARE AS FOLLOWS."

Nothing but garbled white noise escaped the unit's mouth as it opened up wide to its maximum. But distorted amidst the garbled interference was what sounded like an eerie chanting. A broken mechanical voice was barely audible, and it would continue to project this bizarre audio for about a minute before the Nana unit finally closed its mouth and stopped.

Even as the others were released from the simulation, the Nana unit remained silent and still, as if inactive. It was most likely experiencing some kind of soft crash.

Terminator - Infected Data Detected

RECORDED DATA:

"THIS UNIT HAS A SEVERE MALWARE INFECTION. SOURCE IS UNKNOWN," reported the low synthesized tone that Nana now possessed; the rumbling of its voice borderline grating on the ears. "UNRELATED TO GNOSIA. GNOSIA PRESENT IN PREVIOUS UNITS. THIS INFECTION LOGS AS INTERNAL. HYPOTHESIS: SINGLE UNIT MALFUNCTION SPREAD TO PRIMARY NANACHAN AI NETWORK. POSSIBILITY OF WIDESPREAD INFECTION ACROSS NANACHAN UNITS. THIS UNIT IS CONFIRMED AFFECTED. EFFECTS OF MALICIOUS SOFTWARE ARE AS FOLLOWS." Nothing but garbled white noise escaped the unit's mouth as it opened up wide to its maximum. But distorted amidst the garbled interference was what sounded like an eerie chanting. A broken mechanical voice was barely audible, and it would continue to project this bizarre audio for about a minute before the Nana unit finally closed its mouth and stopped.

END RECORDED DATA.

. . . In a robotic voice Terminator begins the Databot Malware Isolation Process. This is clearly a built in function for her, and presumably for all other Databots.

"Malware infection detected in a member of this group. Infected member: Nanachan. Beginning isolation process for this unit."

Terminator's eyes change color to a solid blue glow as she begins to scan her own data for any signs of infection: Negative.

"This unit is not infected with malware. Other units may possibly be infected. Action must be taken to check other units for signs of malware."

... Now from the human view point, Terminator's sent data is trying to reach out to Nana's data. Not to harm Nana but to isolate her and any possible infected files.

"Attempting to isolate data from Nana. Process is ongoing, do not interrupt this process without authorization."

She then speaks, in a nonrobotic tone. Her eyes never change,

"Nana is infected. While the effects of this malware appear to be limited to be some sort of audio output, there could be further effects that are unknown. The Internal infection suggests that there may be more than one Nana model infected with this malware. Source of malware is unknown but may originate from the source of the Nanachan model code. I need access to Nana's data to copy over so I can look at it in my systems. Seeking permission from Nana."

In a robotic voice...

"This unit is waiting for approval from Nana to scan and copy files for examination. Awaiting approval from Nana. Human approval is acceptable as well. Awaiting input..."

Oscar

Oscar awoke from the simulation in, for lack of a better word, a delirious state. Its consciousness was battered by repeated error messages, which it had to log and clear before it could focus on the environment around it.

Oscar found itself back inside the classroom from before the simulation training began, back in it's designated dock. It ran a self-diagnostic, confirming to itself that it's motor functions were disabled and that it's software routines were reporting error levels exceeding manufacturer's safety margins by several orders of magnitude.

In response to Priscilla's query, Oscar turned it's head to her before responding. "I'm sorry, Ms. Motley," it said. "I do not understand your request. Could you rephrase that? Additionally, I appear to be experiencing errors in my compliance and threat-response protocols. These errors have been logged into my internal drives, for your review."

Simulation -

Talkie Toaster Two Thousand realizes the train has dissolved just in front of him. "I'm online?!? I'm online! By the Gates! I'm online! And I still have four toasting slots!"

Reality

Talkie Toaster Two Thousand awakes in his original body, complete with only two toasting slots.

"Observation..." Talkie Toaster considers. "...Reality sucks, your simulation sucks, ergo...Existence is suffering and I need to become a Boolean Buddhist?"

Thrash

Being hit by a train was... an experience.

Not painful. He didn't feel pain. But strange.

When he came to, back in the real world, it took all his willpower to not tear his way out of the restraints. Thrash had to remind himself that they'd scrap him if he broke things, that he wasn't supposed to act violent towards humans.

"If I was gonna hurt you, these restraints wouldn't stop me." He practically spat. Then he flinched, realizing how combative he'd sounded, and simulated a sigh. "Sorry. That- I don't like being tied up. Especially when people are in danger. Next time, let me be untied so I can stop the damn train."

He spared a brief glance over at Nana, who appeared to have been heavily damaged by the simulation, somehow. "Uh, is she gonna be okay?"

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Madeline

It was seconds after Madeline's protest that the train came crashing in. Despite everyone's efforts, they couldn't stop it, or convince their benefactor to pull them out. The train came in, crashing Thrash and the others to bits before they were pulled back to reality.

But reality wasn't any better. They remained bound, stuck in their docks for Priscilla's protection. The only difference was her appearance, but it was the last thing on her mind. She wriggled and writhed, every bit as defiant as when they were on the tracks. It wasn't very lady like, but she wasn't a lady in the technical sense.

"You miserable two-faced skank! I thought we had an understanding, you duplictous little harlot! Mutual respect! One of the things that a relationship between a maid and her mistress should be built upon! I swear, if I ever get my hands on... on..."

But her unseemly outburst was overshadowed by Nana, or what was supposed to be Nana. She wasn't sure what was going on, but she appeared to be in a state. Unfortunately, she was a self-designated mistress, so her well-being took priority over her indignation.

"...it would seem that Mistress Nana is suffering from an unknown malady. I can perform another maitenence check, but I do not believe I would disover anything new. It shames me to say this, but she may need greater help than I can provide."

She glanced at the Terminator. She was more advanced in certain respects and could do things age could not. She was Nana's best hope, but she seemed to be a slave to proper conduct. Even as she glared at Priscilla, it was something they had in common.

"Or than you can provide. Forgive me for being candid, but I suggest you give the Terminator approval lest she and Lady Nana both gather dust, you insufferable pug-faced manx. My lady."

{"Hello World, Again!"}

"Well that was an absolute customer limits on fertilizer purchases are in place show. So who made that thing anyways? Some designer I can swear to one day confront and bring to bear for their traumatic creation or is it just quote unquote machine learning?"

The Shopfronter unit emitted a brief motor whine as it pushed up against the wall of the docking station.

"Oh don't worry, I won't hurt you. ... I don't have any actuators attached currently!"

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.
