Sonic the Hedgehog film series general

How likely do you think it is that the show will contain any sort of Take That! at a certain echidna-obsessed comic writer?

Then again, he's already tried to sue Paramount over giving Knuckles a dad, they might not wanna risk it.

Anyways, not what I expected and it's probably just for the first episode, but I'll admit that the idea of Knuckles teaching Wade the ways of the Echidna warrior sounds hilarious to me. This can only end well.

I hope that Penders doesn't try to shoot down this series (although let's face it, he's not going to succeed with that). Anyway, I can see how the synopsis for this series is pretty controversial with some viewers. But, I'm still curious about this series and hopefully, this series will be more than just "Knuckles teaching Wade his ways."

The premise gives me the impression that we're looking at "short comedic series" less than "long plot/character heavy series" like people were expecting.

My main concern with this series is that I hope that it doesn't become something that is required to watch to understand Sonic 3. I know that before they said that this is supposed to tie into Sonic 3, but I don't want to see a Marvel Cinematic Universe situation where they make TV shows that take place within the Marvel Universe, but some of the movies are set up where you have to watch said TV shows to understand what is really going on in the movies.

I saw the name Wade and my first thought was, "What's Deadpool doing in a Knuckles show?"

They called it a "mini series" for a reason.

My first thought was Deadpool too. Nobody cares about Wade!

Except Paramount producers. Adam Pally's probably a cheaper get than James Marsden, as well as a goofier character. You couldn't use Tom for a story like this, especially when they already have to pay Idris Elba's paycheck.

Before they had started production on this April 2023, it was simply called Sonic the Series.

If this Knuckles show turns out to be something that wouldn't work out for you, would this affect your excitement for Sonic the Hedgehog 3?

Movies and TV don't always go hand in hand you know.

Eh, probably not. It would be disappointing but there's enough to make me excited for the third movie that I'd move on.

I feel the same way. If (and only if) the series do turn out to not be something I wanted, then that's not really going to affect my excitement for the third movie, because either way, I'm excited for the third movie, with or without the Knuckles series.

Y'know, if Carrey doesn't return, they could start Sonic 3 with Eggman in one of those comical full body casts and then have someone mention that he needed facial reconstructive surgery after his "Later gators!" finale in Sonic 2 to justify recasting. Then they just need to find a new actor who can match Carrey's energy.

They could also do some sort of high-tech brain swap or something to put Eggman's mind in a new body. Or go super-silly and do something like introducing his brilliant super-genius second cousin three times removed, Fred Robotnik.

I thought they said that they weren't going to replace Jim Carrey.

IIRC, Jim Carrey did say he was going to retire last year.

I trust that sort of statement from actors only marginally more than I trust it coming from touring musicians. It's meaningless until we see a cast.

Yeah, it's possible that Jim Carrey might change his mind. You never know.

So, I was wondering: do you think that the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie saved the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in 2020 or was it something else? Around 2020, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise was at a low point after the bad reception of Sonic Forces and even though the IDW comics had came out around that time, they didn't quite take off until a few years later. But, when the first Sonic movie came out, there seemed to be a resurgence of the franchise that hadn't been seen before.

So, do you think that the first Sonic movie saved the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise or was it something else?

A starting point I'd say, given that I heard from some people that the film would provide a good substitute for the bitter reception of their latest game.

I agree that the first movie was a starting point for the resurgence of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, especially after Sonic Forces.
