"Intentional" doesn't mean "the character in-universe did this on purpose", it means "the creator of the work did it on purpose", and it's pretty clear that's the case in the suggestion.

I don't really see the "funny" though. It's more heartwarming than anything since they're trying their best to write English despite not knowing the language.
