It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesWhy don't we have a trope page for this game yet, especially since it seems pretty mainstream?

Well, the usual answer to that question is "because no one got around to it yet". It's a wiki. Feel free to submit a page.
I like how this game tries avoid all of the usual repetitive chores you'd find in a survival game. You still need to eat, but it's largely for applying various buffs and healing for upcoming battles - it's totally ok to ignore your hunger levels if you're currently doing nothing important or constructing your town. Repairs are free; just head to the nearest workbench and you can fix up all of your gear in seconds. The only real loss would be any loot or items equipped during death along with a few character levels, or possibly the loss of a ship during bad weather or enemy attack. Definitely makes the first few hours a bit more welcoming.
So this is new. I usually never post or comment or mingle myself in anything, but why isn't there a page yet? I NEED MY LIFE RUINED, PEOPLE!
Cuz I don't have the time anymore reeeeee
That said I do need to complain that the farming implenents should warn you about when you are planting something too close for it to grow. Rest in peace my poor carrots, the red indicator was not enough
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesThis has to be the most complex structure I've seen built by the community yet.
I'm not even sure how that structure isn't collapsing under it's own weight. It's pretty tricky trying to design structures that won't collapse past 8 structural pieces in height, and this Wizard's Tower is clearly beyond that!
Me and Onyhow along with a couple other friends have our own community-built village off the shoreline of the Black Forest.
Only complaint so far is Valheim's netcode seems to prefer if players have a specified server: trying to run it from my desktop starts running into issues if you have 4 players or more. In particular, visiting players cannot interact with the environment and the latency becomes ridiculous. Kinda hoping the future patches improve the issue, because this game works best with friends.
EDIT: Oh, and I ran into this little nugget on Reddit.
An emotional Greyling Rescue is the feel-good story we all need right now.

Huh. Trees count as ground for the purpose of support, you say...
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesSurprised no one ever talks about how gloriously silly the game gets. Starting with the character creation asking you to pick a shade of blonde for your viking, then you fight woodland creatures whose elite warriors have flower pots for heads, and then you start a boss fight and suddenly the atmospheric orchestral score is being replaced with cheesy death metal riffs as you fight the bastard son of Grunthos the Flatulent and the Great Mighty Poo...

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Starting feel the grind. It's proving quite difficult to explore the Swamp regions, and my group doesn't have enough poison resistance meads to sufficiently explore the area without being attritioned to death by all of those blob monsters and leeches. And those 2-star undead Draughrs hit like a goddamned truck too; makes it hella hard to clear out the corpse piles without cheesing the AI's pathfinding.
Well. You kinda just wanna rush into the dungeons in the swamp The Draugr are easy to outrun.

Man, I'm feeling really inadequate with my creations right now...
Don't expect a Mac edition of Valheim anytime soon.
Valheim cannot come to Mac because they don’t have a Mac computer in their studio.
All we need is some TEGDRIDY Farms weed in this game and we're golden
FYI you can't actually build on the Leviathans themselves - rather, the house is being held up by some iron logs under the structure. Also the bed isn't being elevated in the middle of the house for no reason: it's because during storms the waves will cover almost everything underwater just below the bed's height.
These settlements keep getting more complex, and I continue to feel more inadequate.

A mysterious walk in an old fortress...
The community just keeps putting out work that puts even the dev's own structural creations to shame. Heck, I'm wondering just how did this guy manage to place all of those furniture items on their side like that.
The Mistlands update came out earlier this month, and it's a doozy.
In addition finally adding in the Mistlands biome along with the usual new items and gear, we now can use magic or summons in combat, and new friendly NP Cs exist in the Mistlands in small settlements (the trader isn't alone in the world anymore!).
Oh, one REALLY important detail... the new content is designed for players who mastered the Plains biome and defeated Yagluth, so stay away until you've met that criteria. Also, you might have to generate a new world in order for the Mistlands to function normally. The previous "dead forest full of spider webs and skulls" look was completely changed and now has a variety of structures scattered around and extremely uneven terrain, none of which will properly spawn if you've already explored the area in previous versions. Furthermore, I'm not 100% sure if the boss's summon area will even be generated on those older maps.

I don't really like playing multiplayer, can I enjoy this game solo?
Absolutely, though it certainly helps to have a small group of friends helping you build settlements, find and harvest resources, and fight the bosses. Doubly so once you have to start journeying to the swamplands: it's usually a long, hazardous trip, and trying to find the necessary iron in the crypts to craft better equipment is going to be a real slog without a friend to assist both in fighting enemies and carrying back the loot.
All right, I'll try it out when it's on sale.
Valheim's Steam Store Page
Valheim is a mix of things: The procedurally generated worlds and creation of Minecraft, the combat of a Dark Souls-lite, the survival and exploration aspects of... well, a LOT of open-world survival games, all mixed into one surprisingly cohesive and fun package.
And it's surprisingly intuitive to boot. Once you craft a hammer and collect some wood and stone, you'll have the ability to build a basic wooden house and begin more complex construction projects, ranging from boats, castles, shrines, or even an entire town.
The graphics are a bit of an odd thing. Everything has the look of a Playstation 1 game that had been softened out and upscaled to remove any jaggies, but the lighting, fog, shadows and other graphical touches clearly indicate it's a modern title with the low-poly look being something of an artistic choice. The other big plus about those simple graphics is the installation size: it's only slightly over 1 Gig in hard drive space!
And despite being an Early Access title it already feels mostly feature-complete. I can't speak for the endgame experience since I've only put in a few hours so far, but the amount of quality and content present is certainly a good omen.
TL;DR? It's Dark Souls and Minecraft combined in Viking Valhalla!
