Like I said before, most of the announced cast are nerds who would totally be into giving this their all. Maybe not Ryan Reynolds "I'll take a pay cut if it means this movie is perfect," but they're not going to phone it in.
We have a release date: August 9, 2024. And apparently ten writers worked on this script so… fingers crossed.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. So who is playing Handsome Jack. As Dameon Clarke is such a tough act to follow. I feel like he would be the best choice.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I don’t think he’s in this movie.

Ten writers? And this many delays and reshoots?
That doesn't set the stage for a good result.
He didn't appear till the second game but given his popularity, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to fit him in here somehow.
They're already adding Tiny Tina to (seemingly) Borderlands 1.
Considering her backstory with Roland that's not an inherently awful idea.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Even if Handsome Jack won't be in the movie proper, you just know there'll be an end credits stinger teasing him!
...Bold move to announce a movie's release date during a writer AND actor strike, though.
If filming has already been completed and they are confident that the movie's production will be finished by a specific date then they don't need the writers or actors to do more work.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Certain actors on that poster give me pause.

“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.Yeah, why would it give you pause? The poster doesn't even say who they are playing.
I think we know several of them already, actually. Cate Blanchett is Lilith, Kevin Hart is Roland (which does seem weird if BL 2, but maybe with 1's story it works?), and I THINK Jamie Lee Curtis is Tannis? Not sure on the rest.
Jack Black is Claptrap, Greenblatt (who was just in Barbie) is Tiny Tina and Munteanu is Krieg.
Janina Gravankar will be playing General Knoxx.
Wait, really?
Yes, really. Wikipedia, IMDB and so on has a larger cast list.
Jack Black as Claptrap actually sounds like a weird choice to me. Claptrap is meant to be a grating and obnoxious character while Jack Black characters typically aren't irritating (at least not in that way) and he also has a fairly deep voice on top of that.
I can think of a few characters he's played who are going for actively annoying (his role in Saving Silverman, Slappy in Goosebumps, the obnoxious arms dealer in The Jackal, the white Rasta guy in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer).
It's just such an eclectic weird cast.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. They're all just big name, mass appeal actors, with the sole exception of Muntsanu, who is something of a stunt/action specialist.
Cate Blanchett is the only one who has "serious art actor" vibes, but she is no stranger to big budget effects driven action movies. And its nice to have an actual Australian.

I believe you're in the wrong thread as this is for the film, not the game series.
I mean, not that I blame you; the search function on the site is hot garbage for searching the forums.
Yeah, Borderlands and Deadpool definitely share the same tone of "irreverent gory silliness with a surprising amount of depth and heart". Though I don't actually know how much of that was due to Tim Miller's directing, or if it was more due to Ryan Reynolds's commitment to the character in both performance and writing.
