Anime/ Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

Eris won't be back until either the 3rd season or the 4th, from what I remember of the Turning Points. This second half of Season 2 will be Turning Point 3, though.

This is basically a pre-contemporaneous commoner marriage isn't it? Like how marriage wasn't held at churches and stuff.

Why wouldn't she be? As far as she's concerned, she slept with the love of her life and then left so she can can get stronger to protect him. If there's anything wrong, it's when she learns he's getting married, despite the (very badly worded) letter she left.

Anyone else miss when the opening was just the title appearing over whatever was going on in the story while a song played, with no little music video or anything? It made the show feel very unique.

Yeah.. Really wish they had kept that, it made to opening a part of the show proper! Which is just... Stellar! Same with the ending sometimes

Honestly wish more shows did that, even though liked indeed how it made this show unique.

Shockingly normal episode, divorced of Sylphie being a doormat and Rudeus being an incel who unfortunately gets laid this episode was almost cute. It's just a nice wedding reception with some old friends featuring a surprise reunion. The actual development of Cliff and Lise's romance is more dull than I would have liked but it's always nice to see how good he is to her despite Rudeus expecting him to be weird.

I find it very effective how she broke down in tears because she just couldn't stop fearing that her reputation would hurt her grandkid. This is possible the first time she has reconected with a kid('s kid) of hers in decades.

S2E3: The light of hope! Thank god Ruijerd is back. Thank god.

Oh wait I guess if we’re talking about hope, Nanahoshi just made serious headway in her reverse-isekai experiments. Can’t wait to see how those pan out.

I honestly wonder who would win between Ruijerd and Ghyslaine at this point in the story.

Riujerd I think is above Ghislaine in general as a well rounded fighter.

I do wonder how will Nanahoshi actually react when her goal of returning is actually in her grasp.

Two normal episodes in a row feels like the show gearing me up for something terrible but I'll take it as well as my love returning to the plot

Nanahoshi having a breakdown from despair with her friends pitching in to help her was nice if kind of rushed. Little stuff like the implication of self harm that nobody has the courage to put into words was very good but going from her looking like Sadako to getting her energy back in like a minute in real time could have used work. Nice to see Norn back at the end though.

From what light novel readers have said The breakdown was somewhat toned down, she was trying to claw her face off before Rudeus intervened to grab her. And her stay as his house, basicallly as a sanatorium patient took like at least a week or two.

New episode: And so, the coolest character leaves almost as soon as he arrives, before reminding us of his coolness. We both get a bit of Norn and Aisha; Norn still remembers Rudy hitting her father, and Aisha has a bit of a complex of being a half-sister.

And the beast girls keep making trouble for Rudeus, though I like this little exchange (paraphrased):

Linia and Pursina: "Look at that uppity little first-year brat, we're gonna have to teach her a lesson."

Rudeus: "...You're talking about my baby sister."

Linia and Pursina: "...and the lesson is 'welcome to Ranoa, you beautiful, charming child!'"

Sadness. Ruijerd was only around a precious few minutes.

My side eye for the episode: Sylphiette being more concerned that she wasn’t satisfying Rudy, instead of worrying that Rudy has been extorting panties from schoolgirls.

Aisha is worried about only being a half-sister but wanted to become the maid? I’m not sure I follow. Norn’s side of the story is rather interesting though. Seems like we’re building a parallel to when Rudy was feeling isolated in school, pre-isekai. On top of the separation anxiety from Paul and Ruijerd.

On the subject of Aisha, Lilia put some weird ideas in Aisha's head given she still sees herself as intruding on Paul and Zenith's marriage despite Paul being... well Paul (not really spoilers as most of this has already been revealed but there's still some elaboration to come so just to be safe.

Please can the stupid fucking beast duo and all the plot points related to them disappear from existence? Delete Sylphie too while you're at it, I'm increasingly tired of her habit of making anytime Rudeus maybe does something terrible to other women just her being insecure about her position.

Of course I couldn't have my husband for more than one episode 🫠. God I miss team dead end so much, it was neat that Ruijerd understood Eris so much he was immediately able to pick out that Rudeus probably misunderstood her letter. Maybe if he hadn't left so soon we wouldn't have had the dumb ED arc

I want to be happy about Norn snubbing Rudeus but it falls under Rudeus once again only suffering consequences for stuff he didn't actually do (Same with the stupid stolen underwear detour, it's always when Rudeus is innocent that suddenly he has to suffer). However she is relatable because I too want to be taken away by Ruijerd. That said Rudeus being overprotective before she even went for her first day of school was honestly cute and I do want to see her make some friends eventually.

Aisha stinks of emotionally neglected child, even with the knowledge that Lilia does love her she raised her so fucking terrible and I don't think indulging in her insistence to being a servant is a good idea but sending a child whose obviously lonely off to form life is also a terrible idea so Sylphie is just stupid.

This episode is mostly good because it's obvious that both the choices they make with the sisters are terrible but it's understandable why the characters would make the mistakes

Yeah, on mulling over it a little more, I’ve come around to that perspective.

“Characters understandably making stupid decisions” is an apt way to put it.

What I like about Aisha is while she's an incredibly brilliant child, she's still a child. She accuses Norn of not really trying, because she doesn't yet comprehend how much smarter she is ("It comes easy to ME, so obviously you're just lazy!") and she gets upset when Norn gets what she wanted despite not doing as well, because she's not mature enough to realize it wasn't a competition — Rudeus was just trying to figure out where the girls would be most comfortable.

Really like the reconciliation. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a person is just listen to them and give them a shoulder to cry on. It's amazing how much that can help.

I also like how Rudeus thinks he ultimately didn't do much of anything, because he doesn't realize how huge it was to go that far out of his way to be there for his sister.

Okay, I loved how the title of the episode not only referred to Rudeus (from Norn’s perspective), but also to Rudeus’ own older brother in his previous life, who tried to talk to him about going to school again.

Lots of things to like about this jaunt, honestly. Rudeus jumping to the wrong conclusions make perfect sense, considering his past experiences. Norn disliking her brother also makes perfect sense, from the bad first impressions to the pressure of being compared to him. And the way Rudeus and Norn managed to reconcile just because they realized that they both had their own worries, without needing to know what exactly was going through their heads. Hell, Linia and Pursena weren’t awful! This is it, Mushoku Tensei. This is what I like to see.
