the title says it all. im setting up a story at the moment, and the main character - a fit man in his late 60s - needs to be shot in a way thats dangerous but nonfatal. i was thinking lower stomach, but im leaning more towards upper arm now, since it's supposed to be a botched hitman shot (my logic is "aiming for the chest, missed and hit arm").

mainly looking for reasons this could or could not work out. im not great with medical work and i appreciate any response 👍

Absolutely. It's quite possible that the wound causes no infection and misses any major blood vessel - without haemorrhage, damage to vital organs or infection a gunshot wound isn't going to be fatal.
