"She's rational like Aizawa, but she does crazy things from time to time."

She learned from Daddy Aizawa and Deku.

I gotta admit, I like this. Deku always keeps pushing himself, and so his friends will too.

You might even say its time to go Beyond Plus Ultra!

It is incredibly fucked-up that a grown-ass man (a teacher, no less) helped a six-year-old hack off her limb, even if it may regrow.

...but it is better than if Eri were to somehow slip unattended and end up on the battlefield, so I guess I'll take it. Anyway, this time All the Warriors are there explicitly to stall AFO and not to defeat him. We still don't really know what Mr. World Domination can do now, so we're about to find out. Kick him in the balls, Mineta.

Gashly is definitely up there when it comes to terrifying Quirks; all of these 11th hour villains have been some manner of eldritch horror-y. Wonder if we'll actually see a fight with him or will he just sit there and read in the offscreen land, seeing as we're back to AFO again. Cool that the civilians are pitching in too; seeing Aizawa shook with something else than horror or exasperation is rare but nice. Hi, Death Arms. Also, apparently the guy who volunteers alongside him is from Hori's previous manga?

What's up with Kaminari? Last time we saw him he was still conscious if beat up. Was he among the cavalry fighting Gashly? But then what is he doing there being a liability?

...anyway, Momo better pull out all those big guns she used in the offscreen land.

Break next week, too. For all of my gripes with the story itself, the art's been consistently peak throughout; I just really hope Hori takes care of himself.

[up] I doubt that a horn counts as a "limb" though.

Horns are "keratinized outgrowth" right? On humans that is. So it is basically just hardened skin, right? Hardly would call that a limb.

Still messed up though.

Besides, that news-anchor from way earlier in the story cut off his horn by his own permission as well so this isn't the first time a horn have been cut in this story.

I couldn't find a good descriptor. That's good to know though, I wasn't aware that's what they are.

Well, Eri's age (and the fact that an adult person helped her when it wasn't a life-or-death situation) is probably the main issue here rather than it being a horn - although in the newscaster's case, his horn didn't do anything AFAIK beyond being a horn. It's easy to forget since we mostly just follow people who are allowed to train their Quirks and get up to all sorts of superhuman shenanigans, but for most of the population it's just an additional feature or a very weak parlor trick that they have instead.

[up][up] In that case, her asking an adult for help with cutting off her horn was the best alternative she could have gone with since that ensured it would be safe and not harm her in the process.

The other option being "Eri cutting off the horn herself without help" which is a bad idea in so many ways as whenever a six-year old decides to take matters in their own hands, they tend to get hurt.

I'm just hoping that Eri's horn can grow back after all of this is over. I'm assuming that her horn is like a rhino's in that it's made of keratin and will grow back if damaged. If that's the case, any otherwise permanent injuries incurred by characters during this arc can be completely reversed. (Kyoka says hi.)

Phase 2 was mentioned in chapter 345. I'm pretty sure it's just fighting and capturing the villains at the different locations.

[up] Not exactly related to your question but it reminded me of something I’ve been wondering about:

So I never got into the big three or anything. This battle has been very long and very messy with a lot of moving parts. Is this common for final arcs in Shonen manga?

Like, the longest arc in MHA before this was ~50 chapters/5 volumes.

I think most of the kids (maybe with the exception of Izuku himself) will be okay, if needing some prosthetics. Its the adults who may be permanently maimed - That's kind of the point of putting their bodies on the line ; They know that its appalling to have kids fighting a war, but that's how desperate the situation is. But they can at least try to take the brunt of the self-sacrifice. (As much as they can)

Regarding your question of final arcs.

Bleach? Yes. (206 chapters)

Naruto? Oh yes.

One Piece? No idea.

[up] and at least this one doesn't have a clone of Deku at every battle, so the audience has NO IDEA where he actually is for like 50 chapters.

One Piece hasn't had its final battle, but the previous arc had its major fight built up to for the better part of 10 years, against one of the series' biggest, strongest Big Bad. The arc itself lasted 4 years, though the battle portion of it wasn't the entire arc. Still, most of the arc WAS the fight. The arc in total was almost 150 chapters.

...hehe. Looking it up, apparently the actual fight was 69 chapters of the arc. Nice.

Chapter 421: WE ARE HERE The chapter begins with Kirishima, Shoji, Koda, Ashido, Aoyama, Hagakure, Kaminari, Momo, Jirou, Mineta and several other heroes arriving on the battlefield. They all state their reasons for continuing to fight and conclude with a “we are here”

AFO says that he should have been destroyed too, since he was a part of Shigaraki. However, when he heard the sound of Yoichi's vestige shattering, his world lost its colors. He gave up on his ambitions and then no attack from Deku could overcome the pain of his loss

AFO says that he now understands that it's tragedies that make people stronger. He then activates various quirks that transform his arms into something bizarre (resembling CSM's gun devil). But Sero says that he disagrees with AFO's statement

Sero says that because his life isn't full of ups and downs like AFO's, he got stronger through regular daily training. Also, said tragedies made life very difficult for a certain friend of his. That's when Endeavor and Shoto come out of the portals

Sero says that these tragedies shouldn't exist. Endeavor and Shoto use Flashfire Fist on AFO and we see a flashback of the U.A. robots taking Rei. Natsu says that she has reached her limit after helping other civilians

He says that Endeavor staying there will only raise her temperature, so he'd better keep fighting somewhere else. Sero holds them both with his tape and says that he's been thinking about this topic ever since he learned that Shoto had defeated Dabi back in Kamino

Mic then comes out of the portals and shouts for all the heroes to move forward, saying that this is today's last big mission. AFO says that he's not feeling a hint of emotion even though he's facing so many wounded heroes, and that makes him a little sad

Thirteen arrives riding on Hound Dog and pulls AFO with her black hole while Gang Orca, Shishikura and other heroes try to attack him. AFO then goes for an attack and Burnin' and some other heroes try to change its trajectory, but he's too fast and strong

Kendou says that they all need to keep attacking at the same time and Deku tries to get to them, but he falls to the ground. Aizawa says that Eri's horn only rewound his body in a few minutes, to just before he lost his arms — he still has all the damage from the battle

Deku says that he no longer has he One For All or the other users' quirks, but he still has some embers inside him, just like All Might back in Kamino. Aizawa hands over the All Might shirt that the civilian gave him and Deku puts it on

Deku recognizes the shirt as being a Men's Non-no exclusive item with 5 different variations and Aoyama offers his hand, telling them to run together. “We need you and you need us”. Deku remembers when he reached his hand to Aoyama and gets emotional

The civilians are watching the battle from the shelter and are amazed to see the heroes fighting together. “Deku-san!” shouts Eri. “Big Bro Midoriya!”, shouts Kota. “Deku...” says Gran Torino. “Do your best.” The last page shows Deku running with the All Might shirt on

Well, Deku suffering a permanent De-power is not what I wanted out of the ending, but I can see why Horikoshi went this route. Still, it's great to have everyone pile on All For One.
