I'm actually a little surprised that not once in this video did they mention Sonic X-treme or its Troubled Production. I wonder if that had anything to do with Sonic R coming out the way it is.
Ever wanted to see the most inexplicably horrifying intro to a game ever?I appreciate that they were able to make an entire review of Sonic R with only the barest mention of any memes.

They don't even bother looking at the DLC. They were willing to look at Ride to Hell: Retribution DLC but not this.
Part of it is probably because the video was already over half an hour, but still.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAnd according to Civvie 11, it's one of the better parts of the game.
The Money Ghost once again refuses to even bother with a game, just like it did with CID the Dummy.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's not just better, it was a legit attempt at the eleventh hour to fix things. Duke's way more likable, there's a coherent enough plot to follow, there's setpieces to do. They could've at least done the DLC, it's the whole game's ending.
Still a bad game. Though I'll defend Sonic R, it's mediocre at worst and graphically impressive for a budget Saturn release.
Though the vid has a point that adding platforming elements to a racing game was a bad move. Especially since not every character can actually jump.
Another issue that the vid brings up is that the game did not exist in a vacuum. Two much better racing games had already been released before it, Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSonic R doesn't seem terrible, exactly, but it's got a lot of questionable decisions. Only having five tracks when, like they pointed out, their contemporaries had 16 (Mario Kart 64) or 20 (Diddy Kong Racing) isn't a great look.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Considering they had barely a year to get it done and was partially scrapped early to retool it into a Sonic racer, it's a wonder it came out in the state it did.
ReBoot - Just Bad Games
Oh, how I hated that game due to that stupid hoverboard mechanic since I failed repeatedly trying to jump over the building in the first level. I got so frustrated that I just quit trying to jump and started killing all of the flying cars. I didn't care mission control warn me not to shoot civilians, I want them to suffer for making a horrible level.

They were trying too hard to be original. There was no reason Bob couldn't just walk or run. It's not like he used the hoverboards to move around everywhere.
The gun thing was stupid too. Yeesh, did the creators get Bob mixed up with Renegade Enzo Matrix?

Disgusted, but not surprisedOne thing I like about this series is that they also go into bad games that aren't as well-know. Or at least a sizeable number of bad games I personally haven't heard of.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Shane and Adam slowly go insane for your amusement.

A bit shorter than other entries. I guess this game didn't need as much material to get across how bad it is. Especially since it doesn't seem to be a very long game — as they pointed out it uses a lot of padding in the form of collecting rotten eggs.
Disgusted, but not surprisedPopeye - Just Bad Games
American Hero: Lost FMV Disaster
New Just Bad Games: The obscure PS1 platformer Pix. Featuring annoying mechanics, some of the worst colllectibles in platformer history, and bosses that look like they belong in a very different game.
I predict we're going to get a lot of fan art of the second boss.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Phix legitimately feels like a scrapped project from like 1995 that they found on someone's hard drive and decided to release basically as-is, which would go a long way toward explaining... pretty much everything about it.
The awkwardly dated controls and general vibe of an early 3D platformer from before devs had everything figured out, the bugginess, the tiny pixel collectables that could only possibly be the result of a missing or glitched texture, the plot being flimsy even for the time (even in fucking Crash Bandicoot the bosses had a reason to fight you, being the villain's henchmen), and said bosses feeling like they were transplanted from another game entirely, almost like they were existing assets thrown in to rush the thing out the door...

That said, the game's ending did make me chuckle a bit.
Disgusted, but not surprisedNot in the Just Bad Games series but still great:
