I believe it fits. Particularly if most people would belittle or even ostracize the person because of it.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaThat is not what the page says. I'm not trying to be rude, but please read the page in question before declarivly stating what you think the trope means. The page explicitly says this trope is about someone finding a "monstrous" quality beautiful.
For admiring someone because of the odd features, it's Freaky Is Cool.
We can never truly eradicate the coronavirus, but we can suppress its threat like influenzaWell Freakiness Shame is a subtrope where a character finds the other character beautiful because of the fantastic/freakish physical trait and its usually in a romantic way. That was always a key part of the trope. I think angst over a particular trait, fantastic or not can put into another trope.
Macron's notesThe opening paragraph makes clear that someone finding the trait attractive a vital part of Freakiness Shame. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is. Please read the page.

Freakiness Shame (formerly known as "But Your Wings Are Beautiful" has always been defined as "a character with abnormal physical trait hates it while another character finds that part of them beautiful". But now it's being used for characters who are just ashamed about their features, which is one part of the trope as defined. Is "character is ashamed about an unusual trait" an acceptable use for the trope or does it belong somewhere else?
