Edit: I have re-written this post to more clearly explain what is wrong with the trope. I listed this under Duplicate Trope but I am no longer certain if that is actually the case or if it is really a related trope that is poorly written and Needs Help instead. I was going to do a wick check but I don't know if I am ever going to get around to it at this point because I am trying to spend less time on tvtropes.

I feel that the trope Re-Power currently overlaps too much with Discard and Draw so it feels like a duplicate trope because of how many examples it has that could also go on Discard and Draw and how many already are on both pages. I edited the page to remove a few of the examples but I won't edit it further until it has been discussed here. After carefully reading the page several times, I think that the issue may actually be because the description of the trope is poorly written and it was originally intended to be different than Discard and Draw. I keep reading it over and over again but none of the sentences in the description seem to clearly define what the trope is and instead only seem to imply it. It almost feels like there is a sentence missing from the description. It also does not clearly explain what makes it different than Discard and Draw. The page for Discard and Draw states that Re-Power is only when a superheroes' abilities are changed as part of an reimagining or in an alternate universe, but that isn't consistent with what the page for Re-Power actually says or what the examples include. Another reason why I think it needs rewriting is because the description spends a lot of time rambling about when the trope is bad writing and I feel that some of it needs to be trimmed down. I tried checking the page history for Re-Power to see if the description used to be different but it doesn't go back all the way.

To summarize, the description needs to be rewritten to clearly say what the trope is and it needs to clearly explain what makes it distinct from Discard and Draw and the rest of the examples that belong on Discard and Draw should be moved, or they should be merged if they are not distinct tropes.

It might also be a good idea to rename the trope since it sounds like it is the opposite of De-power, which I don't think it is supposed to be. While we are at it, Discard and Draw may also need a rename since it sounds like it is related to card games and not powers.

I unfortunately don't have time to do a wick check myself as I am trying to spend less time on tvtropes now.

Oh dear, I should have checked this more frequently. What happens when the clock runs out?

Clock is up with no progress; closing.
