While the Emergent Human can hold thoughts, it knows almost nothing about its vessel. The Emergent Human may know a language or it may not. The Emergent Human may have a proper gauge or slight understanding of its needs, or it may be entirely confused by them.
That, in and of itself, is the wonder of the Emergent Human, who has never lived in this sort of vessel before!
That's why they need to be carefully studied and guided, or else, they could come to harm, embarrassment, panic, even evil! That is why we house them, these Emergent Humans. To protect them, and to teach them, and to learn more about them.
Perhaps, this could solve the problem of there being a decrease in the population growth as of late, and what with Earth inching toward underpopulation...
Perhaps it'll go terribly wrong.
It's hard to tell, with these beings. So, we must attempt to develop their morals along with everything else.
Oh. Oh bother. Have I just got myself and my colleagues into becoming parents?"
- Dr. Kai Cadrin, the co-creator of the first Emergent
The rest of us that aren't Emergents, are those who work in the lab. There's not only scientists and magicians working on this project and others, oh no, but there are also secretaries, interns, and ROOMBAS! (The Emergents have been noticed to love Roomba No. 25. It's probably because it's the one that's given additional programming so it can respond to touch.)
Emergents have been noticed to have some abilities related to their original forms, such as being able to connect to Bluetooth or absorbing sunlight and turning it into energy.
So, yes, the Emergents have their days living in what consists of... whatever this lab chaos is.
And it's pretty great.
Discussion, Character list (including NP Cs), and various other things here.
Alev was one of the first to be awoken into a human form. Her case was that of one of her fathers' magical misfire at her formerly robotic body. Her other father, her initial creator and programmer, was made very confused by this, but it helped kickstart the Emergent Humans project. She couldn't say she had much of an opinion on it when she first became human, but now, here she was, wandering through the lab halls, highly interested in the project just so she could find others like her, perhaps actual children in age, like her! Of course, there was the part about her still managing to be able to connect to Bluetooth (even Dr. Cadrin did not know why a toaster would have Bluetooth) and being able to warm up an area rather quickly that her fathers couldn't comprehend, but that didn't matter in the now, right?
