Hide Your Lesbians, in my understanding, is supposed to be about censorship either in adaptation (they were lovers in the novel but the movie made them just friends) or Executive Meddling / Bowdlerization (the writer wanted to make a character gay but the studio said no).
Hide Your Lesbians also has a Non-Indicative Name and is actually gender neutral, while "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship is not.

So Hide Your Lesbians and "Romantic" Two-Girl Friendship both seem to be "platonic relationship between two women that seems like a romance", but HYL seems more judgemental, as in "these two should be lesbians, darn it!".
In addition, it mentions living together as a sign that they're definitely a couple, but, and I know this is anecdotal, but my aunt lives with this other lady and doesn't like her in that way.
