Ideas for Fantasy World

I have these ideas for a fantasy world that I'm hoping to get some feedback on:

1. My main idea is: "What if the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was a Fantasy Novel"? Premise: A boy lives in the Riverlands of the New World who was born cursed by a witch to have iron-like skin, which directly caused his mother's death in childbirth. Later in life, his father is killed as well by a giant, albino alligator. Once he's old enough, he sets out to take revenge on both the witch and the alligator. Along the way, he comes across several traveling companions that join him in his journey.

2. I'm planning this to be a series of stories that follow the same structure of Discworld: focusing on one person in the world, but moving to another in the next story.

3. The world I'm creating is based on settings and tropes found in our planet. For example, the New World has a Wild West, Deep South, and Lovecraft Country. The Old World has a set of kingdoms analogous to Medieval European Fantasy, the Far East, and Arabian Nights.

4. There are also some facets of the world based on other works, like an empire ruled by Apes who use humans as slaves, inspired by Planet of the Apes.

5. One of the other differences between our world and this world is the geographical make-up. For example, Europe is much bigger then Asia, and South America is a collection of micro-continents and islands.

I think it would be a bad idea to make it too much like our earth and open the can of worms that is representing regions by gimmicks.

The most fun part, to me at least, sounds like the whole "a world of tropes", and i think you could have a LOT of fun to try and design a world purely based on common settings tropes. What about a medieval fantasy world adjacent to Lovecraft Country? Would eldritch abominations take the place of dragons? Are sorcerers really just people exposed to Great Old Ones? What about a Ronin in this medieval land? What if the center of this america-expy was the vaguely 1001 arabian nights, except in stead of genies there's eastern dragons? And there's cowboys and sheiks?
