While the outbreak started around New Year's Day (12/31), it's picking up steam around the Asia-Pacific region especially since Mainland Chinese people tend to travel a lot.
For reference, the BNO Newsroom twitter has a special feed for any info on the coronavirus:

The WHO has page about COVID-19 and any other concerns people may have. I suggest peeps go to the Q&A page to check for official details.

Since at least the 11th century.

Oh, there were plenty of conspiracy theories, but people did not necessarily think of them that way. It would often be framed in terms of religion, magic, or science (which were basically all part of the same thing back then).
One such "conspiracy" theory, for instance, was that the plague came from cats. And thus people killed lots of cats, which ironically allowed the real carriers of the plague, rats, to spread more abundantly.

Oh yeah, Stoicism making a revival wave for pop philosophy has been a thing for a while
It honestly doesn't sound like that bad an idea these days...
Optimism is a duty. One new imported case in Taiwan today. Again from the Philippines.

Disgusted, but not surprisedNow for your daily Indonesia update: 115.056 confirmed (+1.922), 72.050 recovered or discharged (+1.813) and 5.388 dead (+86).
Scaled seekerVictoria Police is reporting cases where Australians are resisting COVID-19 stay at home orders and some have openly fought police officers.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Victorian coronavirus rulebreakers warned as Melbourne woman charged with attacking police officer over mask. And by "attack" they mean "in one instance smashed the head of a female officer into concrete until she was concussed". Words fail me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHey, I'm mildly relieved to know that the covidiocy isn't limited to the U.S.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Crap, I've said a few weeks ago that Victoria's mishandling of the pandemic has already reached America levels (remember the private security guards hired in Melbourne quarantine hotels allegedly having sex with the guests?), but I never expect covidiocy to already kick in among the general public this fast.

Scaled seekerGlad there's not many new cases in Queensland!
From what I've heard, Victoria's previous lockdown measures were less stringent than what we had in WA. Hair salons and cafes were apparently still open until they moved on to the Stage 4 restrictions.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Ars Technica: First cruise to set sail post COVID-19 abruptly canceled due to outbreak
More than 40 passengers and crew members aboard the Norwegian cruise ship MS Roald Amundsen tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection, forcing the trip to be canceled and the cruise line, Hurtigruten, to cancel all voyages. This was the first attempt to get a cruise going in the COVID-19 world and it ended in abject failure and potential tragedy.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hold up, cruise liners are coming back already? I mean, yeah, nature is healing and so forth, but holy shit.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Well it tried to come back, and was brutally reminded of reality.
Can't say I feel sorry for them.
Frankly, it's surprising that anyone thought this was a good idea to begin with

Money. Money thought this was a good idea, or rather the desire for it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Easier for a camel and all that.
Who's the more foolish: the cruise line that offers the trip or the passengers who pay for it? This is a dual-idiot system.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"With the number of covidiots existing, I'm gonna say everyone involved is collectively shown as foolish.

True, but only one is actively trying to hurt people for profit.
The others are just morons, and being a moron is not a sin.
Not a sin, perhaps, but it is a way to encourage natural selection to take its course, improving the overall fitness of the species.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I can't imagine that the crewmembers living and working elbow-to-elbow belowdecks are particularly keen to get naturally selected.

Yeah, but the jews were the convenient scapegoats of everything bad in the world, so that's not particularly surprising.
