Although it gained no consensus - the discussion was in February 2011, I thought I'd revive this.
I agree with the point someone made at https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1297623854057320100&page=1#comment-17
where it said that it needed a rename, as the race analogy doesn't fit.
I'd suggest leaving Overtook the Series as a redirect for Grandfather Clause reasons, and the trope be renamed to:

I think it could be renamed, if there's enough consensus for this.
Does anyone agree with this? I think the 2011 original discussion had some worthwhile arguments.
