And I was pointing out that all I needed were animal suggestions appropriate to the biome, that's ALL I was asking. Wish I'd never bothered now

And see, this is what you and so many writers don't get about "it's fantasy, I just want to have fun!" or "don't tell me what to do, I'm the god of the world I make up!"

If a handful of people got sidetracked into talking about racism from the mention of the world you were planning, I can only imagine the negative response you would have gotten without asking about it.

Hell, the fact that you asked but you don't care that the trope you accidentally fell into had a bunch of racially-loaded implications? Is also a thing. Many writers go on blithely ignoring warnings because "lol it's my story, don't take it too seriously," and it's a pretty normal experience for POC in the writing world.

@Shar Biggest slave trading empire was the Mali, based in west Africa, run by African natives. Get over yourself.

Actually, one last post then I'm gone. Were I to make the beastmen act like the stereotype, have them wear that clothing, talk like the stereotype, etc. you might've had a point there.

I intend to invent whole new cultures, new rituals, new food, all that jazz. Just because I made a mistake in my wording doesn't give you the right to throw me under the bus for something I HADN'T EVEN MADE YET. That's the point of it being in the planning stage, to fix mistakes so I don't catch flak for it when the finished product is ready.

Before you lock the thread, I want to recomend you Ironclaw who use animals into diferent cultures.

BUT and this is the part, rather that make a 1:1 with just one animal, the rolegame use various in one place, like for example scorpions, camels, roots, snake in their china expy, by using a lot(kinda liek kung fu panda) it feel more a zootopia esque feeling without making steriotypes and unfortune implications.

A good example would be a mesoamerica culture like the aztect have jaguar warriors and eagle warriors, here they could be actuall jaguar and eagles taking those profesion for one reason or another.

So find a ecology of a place, run a list of animals that you like and insert them rather than just one for the entire culture, that way you difuse the problem for the best.
