Getting in my Apocrypha take and that's Higashide feels way too creatively sterile with some of his plot points

okay now that I've done that, back on topic, I did like that they retained the characterization from Lostroom, including Ritsuka doing push-ups in an attempt to try to reach some level of strength

I haven't actually watched this episode yet. We've got the blonde Ishtar scenes now? I liked those. She was cute.

Pretty cool episode. I like Ishtar more and more I must say.

Which makes it baffling that blonde Ishtar is upstaged by black Ishtar.

Black Ishtar has an afro, how could anyone compete with that?

On this episode... Inhumanity, MUSCLES, and giant snake ladies!

And Fou does a thing. I had to go back and look it up, because I didn't remember him doing that, but it is indeed in the game.

Not sure why there was a PS4 cutscene inserted at the end of the episode, but it was nice.

Enkidu sure chose the most inefficient method to kill Ana.

According to reddit, the episodes thus far have been really holding back on the action and sasuga departments and it's starting next episode that the heavy hitters really start to flex.

Not that I didn't expect that, knowing how the story goes in advance and how Babylonia is a deliberate slow-boil, but holy shit.

Do Ugallu blast fireballs in the game? I legitimately do not recall if they ever did that.

I have to go back and check the game to see how accurate it is but I do like that the framing of Merlin's speech about humans means that it easily applies to Fou, which becomes especially highlighted with the reveal that he actually can do things besides look cute.

Dingrs are actually not very impressive right now which is a bit of a letdown.

I wish Benkei got more screentime fighting.

Ritsuka's application of Leonidas' advice was nice. I didn't really see the new scenes with him and Ushi as too artificial as a designated need to fill a checkbox before their deaths, I think their interactions naturally inform how each character acts from then on.

I think digging a 10-foot deep hole in the ground is plenty impressive, but that's just me.

Also, who was saying the interactions between Ushi and Gudao were artificial?

And no, they never did, the anime made that one up.

People on Beast's Lair and also this Random C review mainly saying that they needed to write a scene before she gets taken by the enemy and thus wrote up the main Ushi-Ritsuka interaction in the last episode. And that it's like too big of a blatant death flag to give Ushi focus right now.

Also I forgot to mention this but booooo Mordred knocked out when she really wasn't in the game boooooo

The Ugallu reminded me on if Basmu will look like they did in the game or if they use the Apocrypha design.

They stuck with the Roman armours for the Uruk soldiers led by a Spartan simply because the cut-outs used in the game were the same as the Roman enemies.

The skipping of the tablet scene was abrupt, more time should have been spent with Leonidas, the battle against demonic beasts near the end was limp and the "Mother" scene overstayed its welcome without a more tense atmosphere to warrant it (it also makes the weakness of the CGI more apparent when its not restricted to the snakes) but overall I do like the episode. The soldier scene in the beginning, Ana and Merlin's talk as well as the first few seconds of Gorgon's arrival was good, as well scary Ushi face. I'm looking forward to next week. RIP Ushi though.

This episode was perfect. The script, the animation, everything. Perfect.

Ushi being tortured was horrible civ though, I felt sick watching that I wish she had just been allowed to perish in a blaze of gorgeous animation

So that episode was basically flexing from the entire crew for every single fight goddamn

Though Kawasaki and KATE did a superb job with the music, it's a shame that Gorgon's theme didn't get to go on for longer.

I legit teared up at Leonidas' sacrifice ;_;7.

Ritsuka picking the bricks up as a Call-Back to his first task in Uruk was a nice coda to the Uruk side of the episode.

Showing Ushi's time in Gorgon's dungeon of Fun was hopefully brief because I don't really think that's an aspect that anyone really wants to see in too much detail.

Bear in mind, in the game Leonidas has no divinity, by this point it wouldn't be ilogical to call him a lesser son of greater sires.

And he still tanked Gorgon's attack, at full.
