This fog... it makes people with spiritual powers unable to see. If someone wants to hunt down spiritual duelists, then they would just round up people acting like they are blind.

"Hang on, I'll try and find her," Simon responds. He then tries to stand taller to see over the crowd and find the mysterious lady.
If Simon looked on, he´d see that Lucia was indeed one of the people that needed help to traverse the fog. As the group moves on, a cloaked figure could be seen by in the middle of it, the mist circling around it to make way for them.
Then skinless fingers pull back the hood, revealing a face that had no skin or muscles.
"If you want to pass, first you must lose your life" said a genderless voice that sounded like static.
The group scattered into a panic, many making a run for it as they see the skeleton. Those that paid attention, could see that the masked man had taken advantage of the commotion to pickpocket the deck of his partner, that was too busy running for their lives.
Then one man from the group steps forward, confidently even though another duelist tried to hold him back.
"I realize what must be done" he says, with a knife in his hand.
"Good Ma´at! What are you doing?" shouts the skeleton, taking the knife from the man´s hand. At that moment the mist fades.
"That was a metaphor you meatbag! I don´t want you to literally sacrifice yourself or erg...any bodly fluids. I meant like your life points! I wanted to have this whole thing were you´d all try to figure out what my words meant, I didn´t thought anyone was gonna pull a fucking knife!"
Everyone that wasn´t running just rolls their eyes at the exchange.
"Yeah, I can see Lucia, she can't-" Simon was interrupted by the appearance of the figure. Observing the exchange, he then pipes up.
"That's a nice prop, but isn't it a little early for Halloween? And what's this about giving up Life Points?"

I see. Then she probably has a Duel Spirit. Whether it's Exodia, I do not know.
Her attention also turned to the skeletal figure. "Are you talking about some kind of strange dueling format?"

Chase blinks, almost speechless.
“Is...is that a Skull Servant.”
As opposed to his usual loud voice. He sounds kinda...dumbfounded.
"He means," Said a feminine voice coming from Aaron's duel disk. He looked down, seeing the centerpiece had turned blue and was currently reflecting Moulinglacia, the Elemental Lord of Water, "That the group must duel amongst each other."
Aaron looked slightly confused, "I thought it meant we were supposed to duel him?"
"Think, does he even seem to have any ability to duel at this moment?" The Lord countered.
"Ok..." Aaron thought to himself for a moment before realizing the obvious solution.
"Guys I think he wants some of us to duel each other," He said to the group.

Drake immediately stopped holding hands with his background duelist when the edifice of fear (and fog) fell away.
"Huh, so we have to duel and lose Life Points to continue?"
He glances at his bag... And lack of a Duel Disc. He packed light for this expedition because he kinda assumed that he wasn't going to be there for any outright duels and if he was he could settle for playing on a table without all the flash and extra function a Disc provided.
"I guess... Good luck with that guys. Unless someone wants to spot me a spare Disk."

"Yes! That´s exactly it! Now do it quick, the Gambler is waiting, and life itself hangs in the balance! And I mean everyone´s lives..." they note.
"But please don´t let that disencourage you! Just try to have fun! haha" the skeleton nudges one of the duelists.
Seeing Drake mention his lack of equipment, Simon unstraps his own disk and walks over to him.
"Here, you can use mine for now. I prefer observing before getting stuck in anyway. Just be careful with it, ok? It's a little finnicky."
"Anyone want to duel?" Aaron asked into the crowd, "Cause I don't think we're gonna go anywhere otherwise."

Fiora said to Aaron. "I can duel with you. We talked to each other earlier. What's your name?"

As Drake strapped the Disc to his arm, his stature firmed up a bit. With a minor flourish he retrieved his cardboard deckbox and slotted the deck within into the Disc.
"Alright. Hey super-lucky gal, I'm calling you out!"
He popped a smirk as the sunlight glinted off his sunglasses.
"I wanna see how you go when you can't just first-draw Exodia to victory!"

"Oh my" Lucia says dramatically. You could see the masked man cringe in the background, he was clearly not a fan of Lucia´s theatricalities.
"I accept your challenge, show me what you got!" she said turning on her duel disk.

Drake nodded and repositioned to give a fair bit of free space to allow his summons room to manifest. He plucked up his starting hand of five and checked the cards.
"Alight, so before I begin actually playing stuff, you got any hand triggers to announce? Just want to know in case your magical 'I always draw Exodia' is an involuntary thing and you literally can't not draw Exodia on first draw."
He let out a laugh.
"But no seriously just lemme know if you've got Exodia turn one so we can refresh and start a new match quickly."

She looks at her cards with a smile.
"I figured this time I´d play with my food a bit" the mysterious man rolls his eyes.

"Alright, cool. I play Berry Magician Girl in Attack Mode!"
He carefully slots the card into the center space of his Monster row and looks delighted as the pixie-like creature manifests between the two duelists.
"As a result, I add one Magician Girl monster from my deck to my hand."
He takes his deck out of the holster and starts flicking through until he finds his copy of Kiwi Magician girl that he puts into his hand before shuffling the deck and for the moment doesn't put it back.
"And secondly, I play Terraforming! I add a field card from my deck to my hand."
He picks up his deck again, retrieves Fusion Recycling Plant and immediately puts it onto the field. Holographic piles of literal garbage appear either side of the game area.
"And that's Fusion Recycling Plant however I shall opt not to use it's effect this turn. Aaaaand... Go."

"Sure, names Aaron," Aaron responded as he activated his duel disk, its crescent blade jutting forward.
"What's yours?" He asked.

"Fiora Gardenia. It's an honor to duel against you." Fiora made a curtsy, then she tapped on her duel disk. A blue blade of light emitted from the disk. Then Fiora drew 5 cards.

"I draw! hmm" She looks at her card with a smirk.
"I activate upstart goblin! Now sweetie, this means you get to gain a 1000 life points, but it also allows me to draw a card"
"Now I activate emergency call! With this magic I get to add Elemental Hero Shadow Mist to my hand! And now I will summon Solidman!(Atk 1300) and with his special effect, I can summon Shadow Mist(Atk 1000) Which allows me to add a mask change to my hand!"
2 warriors appear in her field.
"Now solidman, attack his monster!" the hero rushes forward to attack

"I activate Berry Magician Girl's effect! I change Berry Magician Girl to defense mode and special summon one Magician Girl from my deck!"
The pixie glows as she raises her arms to defend herself. After Drake fetches a card and slots it into the next space to the left and now Dark Magician Girl is on the field!
"And yeah the attack goes through. Sorry, Berry!"

"I activate my quick spell card, mask change!" Solidman leaves the field, and quickly a new monster takes it´s place.
"Now Elemental Hero Dian(Atk 2800) attack Dark Magician Girl!" Dian slashes at the magician with his sword.

Drake needs a moment to check one of the cards in his hand and do some mental calculations.
"I... I discard Kiwi Magician Girl! Her effect gives all my Magical Girls 300 more ATK and DEF this turn for each unique Magician Girl in my graveyard and field! Additionally, you can't destroy or target Spellcaster-Type monsters I control with card effects."
He slams the card into his graveyard slot and the ATK counter for Dark Magician Girl changes to 2900, just enough to be stronger than the Elemental Hero attacking her.
"Does that work?"

"That´s a nice move...except that I have Honest Neos in my hand! Meaning that I can discard him, to give my monster a boost!" Dian(Atk 5600)
"So any idea what's causing this-" Aaron discretely asked his gem, only to find that Umbramirage was gone and the gem was back to normal.
"Great," He complained.
