How is being qeer magus related to not wanting or not wanting make children with opposite sex? Sexuality or love has nothing to do with having children.

If these two were in relationship (which I am not convinced for now), it wouldn't be any different then any other magi that doesn't marry out of love, which should be majority anyway.

So guys, how likely do think Faker (Spoiler-tagging just in case) Iskandar's Shadow's chances are for making it into the anime?

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.

Considering it's adapting volume 4 & 5, she's obviously going to show up.

[up][up][up]

The purpose of each Magus is to enhance their own magic crests as well as possible and pass it on to their children until one day they will be able to reach the root. If someone doesn't manage to do that, then their magic and lineage dies. As Rin said, a Magus who doesn't pass on his crests to the next generation - using Kiritsigu as an example - is a failure as a magus. Kayneth's magic crests being almost destroyed is why his family is currently in such great peril - that plus the tons of debt they own - and why Waver is in the mess he is right now.

Having children through sex and being gay is linked. Outside of modern science - which is probably an alien concept to most Magi - the only way to have blood-related descendants is the old-fashioned way. A gay person might have a few problems with that. Inheriting crests is a complicated deal as seen with how Shiro and Karia ended up as failures, so adopting a child and making them inherit the crests is a high-risk low regard deal, especially compared to the more common route.

Assuming that Mary and Claire are lovers, which as a matter of fact I do believe - would mean that she was willing to abandon everything she stood for as a magus to be with her love. For people as old-fashioned as Magus, this would be unthinkable. It would be like if Mary came out in Victorian England. As I said, it gives a new dimension to the abuse of her father and why she wanted to get rid of him. Plus it ties well within the theme of the series of traditions vs modern values.

If Mary is even bit of magi, she would just merry someone with good linage, make children and once she is done with that she is free sleep with whoever she wants. Marriage is only business contract. Well if she really can't do even that much there is no reason assume artificial insemination is that big deal, Einzberns for example aren't born in any other way.

Or she can just get cloned herself, it would cost but there is confirmed Magi who prolong own life by transferring his consciousness into younger clones of himself.

[up]But the point the above troper is trying to make is that her father wouldn't approve and abuse her for it.

I mean there's options still, she could be bi or give herself or her girlfriend a dick (it happened, long, very, very stupid story), but none of that would stop her father from possibly abusing her out of a desire of keeping the lineage alive.

These are Nasuverse mages: they start at the level of Valdemort and go downhill from there.

To give an exemple: Marisbilly Animusphere is one of the most heroic mages in the franchise, but amongst his skeletons there's several child experiments and heavens knows what else.

I don't think they give a fuck as long as you have your kids and transfer the crest.

[up][up] As far as I can say, that was not point he was making.

Actually scratch that. You are right, that was exactly point he was making and it could happens here.

Well either way it looked to me, Mary would take holder of "number 1 professor I wanna sleep with" tittle over maid everytime.

What Hail Muffins said. Plus, Mary might not be okay with having sex with another guy or even with someone who isn't Claire. For many marriage is for love. Most ways you mentioned are either extremely unethical in the Nasuverse, require expertise that lies beyond Astro- or Necromancy or is a hard concept to grasp for Magi who tend to be unfamiliar with modern science. They called a heliocentric universe a "mordern concept" for god's sake. So I don't think Mary has these options.

[up][up] But Mary may, which creates a problem with her father. He was willing to brand her. He might not be above using the Gilgamesh method. Also a funny little thing. The brand on Mary was the symbol for Saturn, which is what her father identified with. Saturn/Chronos tried to eat his children but then got bested by them or rather Zeus.

[up][up][up] It is quite sad that Tokiomi and Kayneth would be called too sentimental or nice by most Magi. Also speaking of the "dick incident", was it ever stated how Morgan knew about it? I was always curious. It might or might not be relevant for the series actually.

[up]Knowing her, she probably kept her eye on poor Arty for a looooong time.

I mean Mordred wasn't even her first attempt: Agravain, Gawain, Gaheris, Gareth, all sent by her.

Mo is hust, you know, the one that actually worked.

I thought they all except maybe Gaeris hated her? Even Mordred wasn't a success because of Morgan's great planning but because of Arturia's poor parenting skills and Mordred's daddy issues. Mordred was also the only one she actually made with Arturia and thus with a legitimate claim to the throne, so that would have influenced her decision to use Mordred too. But besides that, none of the knights should know at that stage that Arturia was a woman.

My own head-canon is that Arturia was insecure about suddenly having a penis and how to use it, so she went to Morgan who helped her how to properly use it until Morgan made use of that to enchant her. It would explain where Arturia got her experience in blow jobs, despite Shiro being her first time with a guy. And I think it was stated that Morgan had something of a personality disorder that ranged from innocent fairy to evil witch and everything in between, so Arturia might have been more trusting of Morgan than her nephews. I think Tristan at some point mentioned that it is even possible that Morgan and Arturia were on good terms when she died and that Morgan brought her back to Avalon.

[up][up][up]She is proper magi, of course she can handle sleep with someone she doesn't love. As for other methods? Ethic is same as love, silly luxury magi do only as hobby if they have some free time. Either way artificial insemination shouldn't be that difficult do using astrology. Human body and celestial objects are closely related after all and as long as she have something to offer she can negotiate with other magi who has more experience already, though I doubt that's needed as Mary studied under Waver and is quite bright individual in her own right.

Magic might not be as cost effective as science sometime, but it certainly isn't inferior when it come to results.

[up]going to you're bipolar half sister who has tried to kill you at several points due to insecurity about having a penis (something I doubt since a lot of Saber's insecurities only cropped up after everything had truly gone to shit in the last moments of her life) feels like a stretch, I'd sooner believe she went to Merlin (the half Incubus) to ask about this.

I guess to chime in, the quote of the day is basically "nothing lasts forever". Mary might have ways to let her family lineage to continue, or she can just decide that the lineage ends with her.

Pretty good first case. It establishes how things will work, especially that since we're dealing with mages it's impossible to discount any possibility, even that the victim was also the murderer.

Also the first glimpse of Gray. It was awesome, though people without context must be pretty confused.

I don't think Waver looks that old. Older than 29 but not enough so that I'd assume drugs/smoking or stress are the cause.

I guess I just got used to seeing him on FGO, where he's about 40 and therefore looks his age, if not looking a bit younger than he actually is.

Seeing him looking like that while a decade younger was a bit of a shock.
