"Kek," Kanan said lazily, her real 15-year-old voice shining through once she spoke. "That was straight to the point. Really refreshing."
Her tone of voice didn't give any indication as to whether she was being sarcastic or not—however, her username Xx_FunkyMemelord_xX was somewhat well-known, and if any players knew of her already, they would know that this was her usual sardonic way of talking.
"Anyways, hello new people and old people who are now new people. I'm Kanan Lightbringer, a Human Healer. You may have heard of my username. It's nice to meet you all," she said, nodding affirmatively to everyone gathered—obviously sincere about that last part, at least.

Odyssey Guild Castle – Nikki
The one with the username NIKA_0451 seemed to be looking around in wonderment, only briefly tuning into what was going on during Maico's introduction before zoning out again. Though she seemed to have the decency to smile brightly at Kanan's introduction. She must have had her facial features scanned in.
“Well, I'm a newbie. I'm Nikki! Or... NIKA. Any one! I like Nikki though. Sounds better. Anyway, I'm– uh...” she paused, seeming to look off to the side for a moment before nodding slightly and continuing: “...a human Bard, and uh... I've just joined– I just said that, didn't I...?”
There was a long, drawn-out sigh, before she forced a smile on her face again and nodded towards the so-called Xx_FunkyMemelord_xX. The other's usernames seemed remarkably strange to her, but she went along with it. In this case, she knew them by reputation only. That and browsing the forums. She honestly couldn't wait to get into the game by that point, so she'd succumbed to the urge the only other way she could think of.
Religiously studying it.
It quelled her curiosity, at least.
“So, level up so we can be ready for this raid. Cool. I like the sound of that,” she commented, seeming to bounce on the balls of her feet for a few moments. ”I uh, I might need help... I'm kinda new to this kinda stuff...”
Nikki moved... strangely. Smoothly. Too smoothly. It was like there was a lag to her movements that the server rectified by filling in the gaps. Which was strange, because it seemed constant. Regardless, she didn't seem to be dissuaded even if she had a bad connection. She looked almost child-like in her curiosity and wonder at this new and unfamiliar medium.
Though the idea of a woman her age not even knowing the basics of modern gaming and its culture was a little weird too.

After listening to the guild leader's speech- agreeing with Kanan that it wasn't as grand as he expected- Grummrath immediately went to check out his new item. Equipping the Dragonspirit Bow, he turned it in his hands, a look of approval spreading across his green face. "This one suits me," he said with his rumbling voice, before putting it away as the others began their introductions.
"I'm Grummrath. Grummrath Wyrmfang," the orc stated, looking over the others who'd gathered. Grinning a tusky grin, he turned his attention to Nikki, who seemed unsure of herself. "Don't worry too much. 'The guild is family', as I like to say. I'm new myself, so we can watch out for each other."

Guild Castle - Zephyr.
As Maico's speech finished and he left with that...somewhat flashy exit, the Godling adjusted their glasses and took a a few moments to get a better glance at castle...and likely some of the facilities in the courtyard where they'd all gathered which were probably blocked off at their current levels.
Zephyr couldn't help but get distracted by the faintly shimmering ring on his hand. ...It was certainly an interesting choice of gift...but at least it wasn't something like a giant sword or heavy armor which wouldn't have been of any use.
They'd have to figure out how it'd work later. Introductions would be ideal considering they were all gathered together.
"Erm, actually, I'm afraid I must confess that I'm unfamiliar with who you are, Miss Lightbringer. But it's nice to meet you regardless. And well, you as well, Miss Nikki and er, Sir...Grummrath?" The Godling seemed to pause for a moment and nervously cough, adjusting their glasses again. "...Sorry. Just, er, call me Zephyr. Easier to say than my username, I suppose."
They couldn't help but nod in agreement to Grummrath's comment.
"...Well, if most of us are new to this, it'd be best to help each other out, even moreso depending on what our classes and skill sets are..."

"Here's a tip: keep your starting equipment. The upgrade paths are pretty decent up 'til about level 50 or so," Kanan said. "Nevermind about my username though. Just look me up on the forums. Everyone seems to like the things coming out of my stupid brain."
Kanan used the [Spin Stave] emote and clutched the Book of the Wyrd tighter to her chest.

Odyssey Guild Castle – Nikki
Hmm. I didn't expect them to look so imposing through the visor... Nikki mused, staring up at the orc and tentatively returning his grin. Shame they're fictional... or... a relief...?
“I'll have to check the forums again later. I didn't get much time to go through them when the game went live,” she admitted, before frowning as the others got out their new items and moving to rifle through her inventory herself. “And... yeah, I wonder what I got– oh!”
This "oh!" was in response to what could only be described as a sleek pair of bracers suddenly materializing over her arms; a shimmering chrome that reflected the light around them and outfitted with what appeared to be streamlined barrels. She cooed at the things curiously, studying from every angle—yet at the same time she had a slight glint of recognition in her eyes. As if she'd seen something like them before.
After a few moments more of studying them, she finally gave her verdict.
“Well... they're appropriate,” she murmured, before letting the bracers vanish away once again as she stowed them back into her inventory. “A little anachronistic, but... magic, I guess? And they're bracers, so...”
She trailed off as she seemed to recall her surroundings and company, and promptly cleared her throat—a bizarrely muffled and distorted sound in comparison with her crisp and clear speech. Must have been a mic problem. She chuckled embarrassedly nonetheless, rubbing the back of her head and grinning sheepishly.
“Well, guess it's a weird weapon for a weird me... and man you've got cool names...” she realised, glancing up at them and flicking her gaze to and fro between them as she studied their avatar's nametags. “Yeah... Kanan, Zephyr, Grummrath... I didn't even get a surname...”
I'll have to ask about that. It is a little on the nose.

The guild seemed to be an eclectic mix of player types. Zephyr seemed to be more of a roleplayer, judging by his way of speaking; Kanan seemed to be pretty much the opposite. And Nikki... was different. Must be playing on some weird hardware, Grummrath thought. Well, whatever gets you in the game.
"I hope to at least change the look of my outfit relatively soon," he commented after Kanan's suggestion. "Right now I look a bit too much 'peasant' and not enough 'Stalker of the Primeval Wilds'." He raised a fist for emphasis. Thank goodness for cosmetic-costume options.
Nikki seemed to have gotten something interesting. Some sort of... wrist-mounted energy blasters? A bit superhero for a fantasy game. Maybe there was a story behind them that would come out in a later quest. These type of rare items were really supposed to be for more experienced players, after all.
"Well, what you put in for a name's just what you put in," he noted when Nikki seemed disappointed with her name. It seemed a bit strange that she hadn't thought to just enter two words for a name. "You can call yourself whatever you want. Not like the NPCs can read the text."

"...Indeed. It's not always necessary that a name must matter or mean something. It can sound nice, it can be simple and easy to remember, unless it's...really bad, most names are nice. I mean, you probably put more thought into it than I di- E-Erm, ahem."
Again, the Godling couldn't help but shake his head and give a slightly sheepish smile.
"Anyway, a gift is a gift. Can't win them all, but as Grummath said, if this is anything like a singl- Er, we'll certainly find something that'll outperform it and the rest of our equipment soon enough. ...The question is where to sta-"
He stopped in his tracks when Kanan brought up the benefit to holding onto their starting equipment.
"...That's a thing in this game? ...I-I mean, that's...unexpected. It's been quite some time since the last game I played which used that sort of mechanic..."

"Sure is a thing in this game, guy. Took me a while to figure it out, though. I had to upgrade weapons of mine for a quest. And then I found out 'Hey, this is not bad!' And then I started using them," Kanan said in response to Zephyr.
"When someone laughs at you in PVP because of your gear, it's really satisfying to punk them just like that," she giggled.

Odyssey Guild Castle.
Huh. So this is what it was like to hit the big leagues, huh? The massive castle before him, the bustling collection of various characters, the sheer excitement growing in his heart, mind, body, soul-
It was all so much, almost too much! He was so excited! The possibilities were incredible, amazing! He couldn't wait to go out there and PUNCH THINGS.
...okay so maybe Zay'An was a bit excited about the combat and friends thing but the enthusiasm was there, dammit!
He approached the slowly growing group of individuals, talking among themselves as he reached up and gently tugged on the Japa'Mala, his chosen item upon being chosen for the guild ad held up a hand to them.
"Hey, all!" he said with a little grin, his avatar reaching up and pushing the blindfold up so it wasn't over his eyes anymore. "This is real exciting, huh!?"
Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?
Grummrath nodded toward the newcomer. "Sure is. I'll have to do more looking around up here later... but for now, I'm going to head back to solid ground," he explained. "...honestly, floating castles aren't really my style." With that, he brought up the menu to warp back to the main city. He'd been so focused on getting accepted to the guild that he hadn't really had a chance to get to know the world yet. He'd have to get a start on that now- maybe there'd be a good quest.

Heh, Clan Mate, what fun! He couldn't wait to see what he was really made of!
He turned to the rest of the others who stuck around and clapped his hands together, allowing his blindfold to fall back over his eyes. "So! I'm really excited to get started, I don't know if you can tell!" he said with a little chuckle before he gestured over his shoulder. "Does anyone wanna come on over, and get a quest started? Sooner the better!"

"If that is the case, I'll endeavor to make sure that I hold onto this equipment if at all possible, then. Although considering my luck, that might be easier than expected." Zephyr remarked, trying his best not to look annoyed by that fact.
With the newcomer showing up, the Godling couldn't help but give a bow with a dramatic flourish.
"Indeed, it's...certainly breath-taking. Although whether that'll remain true later, who can say. Still, if we're leaving for a quest, there's no better time than the present, as they as say...even if I must admit...erm...ahem, hopefully there'll be some sort of easy quest to get used to how this game works..."

Now Entering Odyssey Guild Castle: The Flying Castle
The players eyes would open to a massive open courtyard before a beautifully designed castle that seemed pulled from a high budget fantasy movie, the ground ending to view of the open sky surrounding them from all sides. This was the ultimate castle of the guild Odyssey, a reward from the Game Masters for completing the first world event. A guild castle that would be next to impossible to mount an attack against. At least for the moment it would require the full dedication of a raid group just to reach, not to mention the various guard NPC's that had been deployed. Even now the players could see some of these guards wandering around the grounds, each decked out with mid tier equipment and averaging at level sixty with a number even holding advanced classes.
And that was just the first line of defense at the starting point of the guild. It was easy to see why even after the player base of the guild had suddenly vanished that they still stood within the top ten.
Before too much confusion could be granted a figure appeared at the steps of the castle, a player that would no doubt be well known by all but the newest of players, the third in command of the guild, currently first in command 'Maico the Skyblade', a player who held the rare class of dragon knight and well known for being with the final group to face down the last world boss of the old expansion.
"I'm going to keep this quick." despite his reputation Maico's voice was soft and didn't fit the rather intimidating presence of his character. While some chose to use voice patches to make a true 'character voice' it seemed he was putting forth the effort to be genuine. Through the translation software might add a few of its own tricks. "If you've joined today looking for what happened to the previous guild members, it was a personal matter and any digging into it will result in a temporary ban from the guild, with further pressing resulting in a full ban."
Despite his small tone those words did have a bit of steel behind them, just enough so it was clear he wasn't joking. "Each player account has been given a legendary item from our vaults, and for anyone who came here looking to transfer items from our armory to other accounts anything you take gets bound to your character. If you use our stuff, we want to make sure its done in good faith. Finally, all items and advanced facilities within the base itself will be blocked off with a level cap to enter them. Start from the bottom and work your way up. That being said the teleportation room is free and various 'Treasure Maps' are open for all players to take."
Treasure Maps are quest items that lead to a specific item or set of items, normally resulting in high level bosses that require a full group to beat. They are rare, and only usable once for any player.
"Level as you want, build as you want. When you reach higher levels and do more to bring in money and items for the guild you might be advanced in rank. The higher your rank the better your priority on loot from world quest raids. In one month there will be a massive world raid to enter into the new expansion."
There was a pause.
"If Odyssey can't place at least top ten for most contribution for the world raid the guild will be disbanded. Work your hardest and have fun." the doors opened behind him to show the massive interior of the castle, a number of rooms blocked off except for teleportation, Basic Alchemy, Basic Blacksmith, and Vendor rooms. Maico disappeared in a dust cloud that was the telltale sign of teleportation.
The castle was open, and the world beneath them waiting to be faced. Through it would probably be best to start with those around the newest members.
((From this point onward players are encouraged to begin working with each other to go on missions, work on goals, and otherwise enjoy the MMO experience in written form until the World Raid event that will start on July 26th))
Be better, because what is the harm in trying?
