I know officially Lonato is the One Shot General of this game, but wouldn't Randolf qualify because of how important he is despite only showing up in one battle?
I always got the feeling the shock value involving the Western Church trial scene had less to do with them getting punished and more about the death penalty in itself, which is where the Black Eagles and Golden Deer freak out a bit while the Blue Lions are all like "heck yeah! they got what they deserved! >:)".
In that sense, I get the feeling the message they tried to send was something among the lines of "just because you can sentence people to death doesn't mean you have to", which is contrasted with scenes both Edelgard and Dimitri have on their own routes later on.
Only on Blue Lions. In the other routes he's kind of there before dying soon after showing up.

"Oh man, it's totally disturbing that Rhea executed the Fodlan version of ISIS" says Caspar who has a 5 year old's, or worse... a Republican's, understanding of justice.
And is perfectly fine murdering a thief who stole food from a Monastery because that's an automatic death sentence in his eyes.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession."It's so weird that Rhea ordered the execution of Fodlan's version of ISIS" say several students who go on campaigns killing thieves, bandits, and terrorists on a monthly basis under guidance of the church.
What was that scene suppose to portray again?

That the continent is a really f*cked up place?

Seriously, Fodlan gives Tellius a run for its money. The major polities are an Alliance that's one bad day away from a civil war, an Empire where the ineffective Emperor and corrupt nobility are clashing and being controlled by a mole cult, and a genocidal chivalry death cult barely functioning as a Kingdom. The Church is a combination of unable and unwilling to seriously effect change (mostly the former, TBF). Most of Fodlan's neighbors aren't painted in the best of light either (waging wars of aggression without much provocation).
If nothing else, Edelgard gets some credit for burning down this dumpster and letting something halfway decent replace it.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. But is it as bad as Jugdral?
Watch SymphogearWhat was that scene suppose to portray again?
Maybe it was just the contrast between Rhea's normal calm and caring demeanor and the sudden harshness that weirded the students out.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimJust learned from the characters paged that Ingrid has no paired endings with other females.
Does this mean she's the straightest person in the entire game?
You've also got Bernadetta, whose only paired ending with another girl (Edelgard) is clearly platonic.
But considering how Ingrid shuts down Dorothea, that's not an unfair assumption.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Edelgard/Lysithea and Leonie/Shamir are also platonic.
Also, Flayn has no endings with females either, but the page referred to Ingrid as the only student with no same sex paired endings, platonic or romantic. I guess Flyan doesn't count as a student even though she always joins your class?
Shes a member of the Church afterall. Same as Cyril.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. That still doesn't explain why the Blue Lions are the group most OK with Rhea in that scene, unless they're more familiar with her moodswings which isn't that farfetched...
Heck, now that you guys mention it, only Sothis brings up how messed up everything is. Makes me wonder even more how she would react if she came back with all her memories and saw the current Fodlan in all it's beauty and despair.
Because they've seen some shit in Faerghus/they used Lonato a Kingdom Noble so that wouldn't help. Its a hot mess what with the Regent too busy flirting with women to do work.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I knew there was something I didn't like about Ingrid
Heart of StoneWhat, that despite the sect devoted to shipping her with Dorothea, she’s pretty much straight as an arrow?
That won't stop me from shipping Ingrid with the other ladies. Paired with most of the guys and she becomes the poster girl for "nagging wife".
I actually liked Ingrid shutting Dorothea down the way she did. If someone is making you uncomfortable, you don't need to be nice about telling them to stop.
I don't think a hypothetical gay!Ingrid is going to be any less of a nag.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. To be fair, the only one of her female supports that Ingrid comes across as naggy in is with Bernie. Of course, that is the support where she ends up breaking down a fucking door to get Bernie to participate more, so...
And she did it in a way that's respectful and firm and still sort of acknowledging Dorathea as a friend but not in that type of way.
About the Blue Lions and Rhea, it seems to me, that the Lions and her just have similar ideals.
If Sothis ever regained her memories to the fullest by part 1, she is so going to ground Rhea for her messiah project and fake religion.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. Her ending with Claude is naggy housewife 101.
Also the fact Rhea was insurance against Agartha pretty much means Edelgard was planning to spare her to use her as a tool on CF. Ironically her pushing Rhea so far allowed Rhea to die free and not a tool.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yep, more CF Edelgard is the same person as AM and VW Edelgard.
Like Edelgard is plotting to destroy them here and has Byleth as the means. Just saying.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.
But this is anime, Byleth has the Protagonist privileges, like they aren't a follower of the Church or really any religion thanks to Jeralt yet can teach faith magic all the same.
Despite needing the western church and Church in general explained to them.
