It was six years ago when the world's first Supervillains appeared. Beings with powers beyond the scope of our understanding. And the greatest and most terrifying among them was Brightburn, the son of the stars. Consisting of Dr. Midrash, The Amazonian, and Deepdweller besides, in addition to a large number of lower ranking villains, it seemed nothing could answer the threat of the so called "Supremacy League".

And then, when the world feared Brightburn the most...he vanished.

Not even a trace remained it seemed. And this momentary bafflement over the loss of their greatest warrior served to blunt the advance of the Supremacy League.

In response to this reprieve, Carlton Mobius, a brilliant businessman and tech genius, opened a series of Tech Schools devoted to teaching the next generation how to fight against the threat of Supervillains, to protect the future of the world.

The premier among these is Aldridge Tech School, which has sizable grants from the United States government for working against the threat of the supervillains.

For none know when Brightburn may suddenly return, or when even more devastating monsters may suddenly rear their ugly head.

As said in the scrawl, this RP is one I got the idea for shortly after Brightburn - and it is set six years into the future. Basically, these college tech schools opened up either teach students how to use various gadgets to fight against the supervillains, on top of combat training, and possibly even induce certain superpowers.

There is also the distinct possibility that there are more threats out there than just the supervillains.

In general the RP would focus on college age people, and it is possible that the rare survivor from the original movie might appear. Such as Caitlyn, with her fate possibly based off of the alternate ending.

The Other Side

Considering there is a lot to go on with this setting, I've decided to open sign ups for the other end of the RP as well. As there are evil versions of the Justice League - in this case I decided to go with opening sign ups for members of this evil Justice League as well.

Keep in mind the horror theme of the movie.

As far as the Supremacy League, the current leader has finding new superhumans as his / her top priority, and locating Brandon as another top priority.

  • Name: Sage Miller
  • Age: 20
  • Appearance: 5'2" and 125 lbs. Has a distinct, far-reaching stare, dark bags under her eyes, and more than a few burn scars on her. Limps and slouches slightly. Can sometimes be seen with a straw in her mouth.
  • Personality: Sage is hardworking, but surprisingly cheerful considering the current situation. She is polite and generally tries to help others. Sage lives up to her name, as she is studious and likes to read. She has resolved to attend Aldridge Tech School in order to attain knowledge so as to better be able to protect her loved ones and other innocent people.
  • Gadgets/Armor/Gear:
    • Ion Rifle & Plasma Pistols: Sage has invented and perfected an ion rifle and a pair of plasma pistols that can pierce the defenses of some supervillains. She is still not satisfied with the amount of punch they pack.
    • AI Headset (W/ Comm. System): Sage has developed a headset with an attached visor. The visor has an aiming AI in it, and the headset also contains a viable comm. system for communication purposes.
    • Light Kevlar Armor: In order to not hamper her mobility and athletic capabilities, Sage wears light Kevlar armor, which is colored darkly (it's not black, just dark grey) for stealth purposes.
    • Medical Nanites: Due to the obvious risk for injury in her and her classmates' line of work, Sage has manufactured medical nanites to deal with both poison and wounds. They are stored in syringes.
    • Hydraulic Braces: Last but not least in Sage's arsenal are a set of hydraulic braces, which are still in the beta phase. They enhance her strength when strapped onto her limbs and help her move around more easily. They also help protect her limbs.
  • Backstory: Sage Miller is a girl from the medium-sized farming township of Newsummer. It has thankfully remained (by and large) untouched by supervillains, though there have been several hair-raising close calls throughout the years. Having been encouraged by her parents to pursue her studies, Sage became fairly clever and good with technology. Secretly growing bitter at how people were being killed in droves by supervillains, she went to attend Aldridge Tech School with the blessing of her town.
  • Etc:
    • Sage likes to play the harmonica and fiddle in her spare time.

  • Name: Zoe Beckett
  • Age: 20
  • Appearance: 5'8". Gangly build which she disguises under her clothing. Obvious remainders of the incident present on her form as a mess of roughly healed scars and cuts across her skin. Barring her arm, bionics are scattered all throughout her body—braces support her legs at the knees and she has a notable harness holding up her abdomen. Perpetually grim expression, never seen smiling (apart from a sardonic grimace).
  • Personality: A curt, reclusive individual of a serious and pragmatic disposition. Zoe takes no nonsense and would rather get the job over and done with instead of mess around, and she can get rather heated if her comrades refuse to settle down in times where she thinks they need to be concentrating (which is all the time). She has little patience for excessive planning but recognizes the need to know what one is doing to begin with; tending to settle for the basic necessities and moving on regardless of whether or not there's extra information. Her determination to get back at the supervillains is both admirable and painful at times to witness—the lust and rage behind her actions can be borderline sadistic at times and her recklessness will undoubtedly be her undoing if she doesn't learn how to show a degree of patience. Nonetheless, Zoe remains adaptable even if her core remains stubborn and unchanging, ready to try new approaches if she's persuaded the old is definitely inferior in comparison but unyielding when it comes to her fundamental goal—glorious subjugation of the empowered so that the future generations can live peacefully. Or at least, what the exaggerated delusions she follows says she's doing this for.
  • Gadgets / Armor / Gear:
    • Prosthetic Arm: Her faceoff against the group of villains all those years ago have left Zoe (amongst other things) without her right arm. With the provisions from the incredibly technologically desperate world, Zoe has managed to procure a replacement jury-rigged from a variety of sources and outfitted with rudimentary but switchable sensory systems in order to stimulate her remaining nerves and restore a sense of touch. With its artificial muscles it is powerful enough for Zoe to punch through concrete at full force, and with its armour function active it can even allow her to flip a small car. Its prototypical nature means she is fiddling with it a lot, and though the parts are plentiful the design itself is rather unstable and prone to shorting out under strain.
    • Multi-Form Attachment Drone: The added external shell of her prosthetic arm, usually seen detached from her and flying about nearby instead. It is of an armoured red in colouration and can shift between forms on a whim—enabling Zoe to readily access a heavily plated gauntlet to heighten her punching power or simply for use as a defensive shield. This drone lacks independence from Zoe but can lock onto a single target while separated from her arm—firing penetrative burst rounds from a small turret housed beneath it—but when attached it is much more versatile at the cost of not having an extra unit on hand. Zoe seems quite fond of it, and when its not in arm-mode she tends to treat it like a pet.
    • Braces: Zoe's so-called "accident" has affected more than just her arm. Her knees (and to a lesser extent her ankles) have had to be braced in order for her to walk correctly, and her abdomen and spine is fitted with a harness in order for her to be able to stand up straight. While somewhat stiffening her movements and being largely uncomfortable for her, these braces have had the side-effect of making her more resilient to falls and jarring impacts to her core—reducing whiplash and allowing her to survive drops she would have never dreamed of being able to before (albeit only if she lands correctly). While this hasn't directly increased her strength any it has made her more sturdy and unyielding, and she has found she has been able to run for longer without tiring thanks to these additional supports.
    • Shock Pistol: An electromagnetically charged coilgun that fires high-speed projectiles with a powerful voltage attached. It can be altered for lethal and nonlethal rounds, and runs on a rechargeable battery instead of any conventional ammunition (although it has a tendency of overheating and requiring a period of cooldown). Zoe has managed to get quite adept with it despite its admittedly clunky design, and when paired with the power of her prosthetic arm it can help make her all the more formidable. The Shock Pistol has both a single shot and burst fire setting.
  • Backstory: Not too much is known about Zoe before her accident, as it is all she seems to focus on. Nonetheless, it is known that she was a soccer player for her old school and seemed overall proficient in sports, and for all intents and purposes the few photos she has of those days indicate she was just as serious back then as she is now. However, it appears as if her school was one of many places targeted by the Supremacy League and its cronies, leaving her and some less fortunate students battered and bruised and on the cusp of death. Luckily, she was one of the few who happened to survive the attack (most likely due to her injuries immobilizing her and causing her assaulters to decide to leave her for dead), and after a struggle to get help she managed to get herself to safety enough to brood. By the time she received her first harness she had become set in her ways, and when she bribed and manipulated her way into getting a new right arm she knew exactly what she wanted to do in revenge. With her modifications finally settled in and her application to the local tech school sent, Zoe is determined to follow through on her endeavours to take down the empowered that have rendered their lives all hell—whether or not her peers are willing to go along with her.
  • Etcetera:
    • Was originally right-handed, but has since adapted to using her left hand dominant instead. She hasn't regained proficiency with her right yet.
    • The scar on her nose was actually from when she tripped and sliced her face open on a glass coffee table. Zoe was humiliated enough by this to later attribute it to the villain attack instead.
    • Hair is naturally brown.
