Interesting...in that case I think it's definitely enough of a lampshade to go with. Curious - what about the other EGS example on the page?
I only found a full strip for the first example because the commentary happened to link to it. That doesn't appear to be the case for the second example.

Not seeing an indication for a threesome in 2, just a shipper on deck.
2 also leans more towards One True Threesome.
The way I interpreted the trope A Threesome Is Hot, it talks about fiction depicting FMF threesomes as an achievement, but MFM threesomes as an embarassment from the guys' perspectives. There's also the neutral Three-Way Sex as the parent trope btw.
