Seems we didn't have a thread for this movie, so I decided to make one.

Here are some behind-the-scenes images.

Well ex child assassin. And when you think about it, it's actually smart. If you're trying to integrate Cass into society, shopping is one way to do it.

I'm just excited we might get to see Harley's Hyenas this movie.

So very torn. Enjoyed Margot Robbie's portrayal of HQ, although the Suicide Squad film achieved what no other film ever has by making me realise I was already bored 10 minutes into the exposition laden "here's the dossiers" scene.

But Rosie Perez? Please tell me her character is mute. Please?

No, she's playing Renee Montoya. Which is...strange. Montoya is usually in her thirties, while Perez is in her fifties.

Footage from CinemaCon!

"February 7, 2020, Birds of Prey is coming. 'I love long titles,' Margot Robbie says in the video. "It's a girl gang!" Robbie says that Harley is not initially part of the Birds of Prey. The logo flashes across the screen. Promotional footage sees the characters in place. Behind-the-scenes footage sees them filming in an explosive setting. Harley hangs onto a car while roller-blading behind it. Black Mask takes aim with a gun. The group of five women walks toward the camera similar to how Guardians of the Galaxy did in their first trailer."

Given this is a street level team, a smaller budget sounds reasonable.

Generally speaking, directors often fight for lower budgets in franchise films because it gives them more creative control. Bigger budgets don't necessarily translate to "bigger" movies or notable Special Effect Failures or Bottle Episodes due to No Budget, bigger budgets are often the result of prolonged filming because of extra takes, elaborate reshoots to fix a tentpole film, hiring the most expensive actors possible (whose salary goes up the longer the movie is filming) and all tied in to studio demands rather than being a barometer for quality. The John Wick films are all comparatively low budget movies, but confident direction and streamlined production makes them look and feel much bigger. See also the Deadpool films and Shazam.

I think comic book movies need this kind of mindset as it fosters more creativity and lowers expectations, if a 75 million dollar Birds of Prey opens with 45 million that would be seen as a positive, versus a 150 million dollar movie needing double that amount.

Doesn't look too bad, though we mostly see Harley.

I'm really not feeling the overall tone and vibe of the movie. It doesn't help that Harley is the ONLY character that has been established, yeah there are a few other women but we've literally seen nothing of them individually besides some generic poses. Suicide Squad at least felt like an ensemble, and Harley is not even considered a regular Birds of Prey character.
