Look, I'm not trying to convince you to stop watching the show or anything. I've said multiple times that I don't really get why I don't feel compelled to keep watching myself.
It's been fun.Hey I'm not trying to be confrontational, honest.
Just saying stuff that is ....... unintentionally coming out confrontational, huh.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'd just like to note that I put off watching Mob S2 for months, until it was almost over, for similar reasons. And it was pretty good.
But I still don't feel like "damn that was a close call, I almost missed it" or anything. I mean, it's a really good show, but there's nothing wrong with not watching good shows.

Wait are you kidding me? Is Yu-No seriously getting an anime? Depending on the route MC bangs one (time traveling) daughter without knowing it and in part two if they get to that he sleeps with a different daughter, knowingly this time, and they're apparently Adam and Eve so like he also gets her pregnant. That... doesn't seem like something you'd put in a modern anime.
I guess I have to watch and find out if they have the balls to go that route.
Oh yeah and cannibalism happens though the story absolutely refuses to admit it.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Personally, I would say that Mob's second season was a massive upgrade to the first one. The only really memorable part of the first season to me would be the development's between Mob and his brother. The second season by contrast had the episode with the girlfriend, Mogami and Asagiri, the developments between Mob and Reigen and the housefire. It also had some absolutely amazing looking fights, and Mob himself became way more intimidating, like when confronting the shoplifters and Shimazaki.
To me, the second season felt considerably weaker overall. A lot of it was from the fact that it was retreading the ground already covered in the first. Which isn't bad in the sense that it's how character development often happens and Mob did have a significant bit of character progress in the new season, but as a viewer it felt less impactful.
The second season has a few spectacular episodes, the first and second episodes stand out in my mind especially, but the season petered out with some fairly classic group shounen action towards the end. This in itself isn't bad, but it's what the first season did as well and there the show pulled off a brilliant subversion of pattern, so there was a massive pay off. Season two goes for the same feel, but the subversion is both expected and less cutting and we've seen it already.
The new season also lost points with the bait and switch of Mob's parent's fate. I didn't need the show to go full dark by killing Mob's folks, but don't bait with it and then reverse it in the next scene. The only narrative payoff for it was that we saw mob almost lose it but then manage to keep it mostly cool, which I felt wasn't enough for how cheap it felt.
Not a bad season, I enjoyed it, were I to recommend the show to others, and I have, I'd say that the first season is a must watch even with how it starts pretty weak, but that you can take or leave the second one.

One Punch Man 2 episode 1:
well, the animation was a disappointment compared to the first season. thankfully, ONE is a great writer and it still shows in this episode
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistThe Helpful Fox Senko-San - Hm. This one intrigues me. Despite what it looks like at first sight, it's actually completely wholesome and adorable... but it takes that to such a level that sometimes it actually circles back to being slightly creepy. For what's worth, this is a very fluffy, adorable, wholesome thing about someone being really nice to someone else, and it's incredibly well produced for what it is. I'm just not sure if it has anywhere to go, or if I'm really okay with what it's doing the whole time. I'm going to give it a second episode just to see if the show gives me something else to work with here.
Also, there is a brutal critique of current Japanese (and global) society here, and I'm not sure how much of it was intentional and how much was not.
Having read the manga, I'm pretty sure the whole thing is pure escapism for Japanese salarymen from the harshness of Japan's work culture. The plot really doesn't go anywhere, other than some other foxes showing up.
That said, I'm currently watching the first episode, and I'm already noticing some changes, so it might end up doing an original plot.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.I don't really mind the lack of a plot in things like these. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, for example, essentially lacked a plot, and was one of the best anime of it's year. I'm more concerned about the overall feel, and, as you said, it is escapism for the Japanese crowd, but I'm feeling ever so slightly uncomfortable about it. Like I said, one or two more episodes should settle the matter for me.
On a different topic, what happened to Carole and Tuesday? Wasn't it supposed to come out today on Netflix?
Only in Japan. Probably won't be on international Netflix until October.
Carole & Tuesday is a Netflix license, not a Netflix original. It's airing regularly in Japan, and will be available elsewhere in, like, September. Or via fansubs
Ah... so I'm holding out for a fansub then, got it. Thanks.

So the Senko anime didn't really change things as so much as expand upon them.
I failed to notice the whole darkness thing in the manga, as it was pretty easy for it to just fade into the background of the panels. The anime actually put a bit more emphasis on how downtrodden and drained Nakano was, like his trip back to the house was shown in more detail than it was in the manga.
The stuff about the grandma was new. That's definitely wasn't in the first chapter.
That said, while the manga just made me smile, I actually cried a bit on the inside with how the anime presented things.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash. If you're guys interested discussing Kenja no Mago, my friend created a thread right here
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."i might check it out, since i'm isekai trash
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistTurns out I didn't need to wait too long
Carole And Tuesday... didn't come out on a tuesday. That's minus points right out of the gate. More seriously though, the show is kinda nice. It's not going to inspire awe in anybody just yet, but I get the feeling it's on the right track to do that eventually. It's got a good aesthetic, interesting enough characters, and it certainly knew when to stop and regard the music it's touting as it's main attraction with seriousness. There's promise here, even if it's not all that impressive at first contact.
Wise Man's Grandchild - It's an isekai. There's an overpowered protagonist with black hair and a generic design who is talented at everything and everybody is amazed by, and... actually, very little else. It's the purest, blandest form of the genre, with barely an interesting plot to support it. It's not bad for those who like the genre, I suppose, but I'll forget it even existed in the next ten minutes.
They averted But for Me, It Was Tuesday.
I'm getting a Bebop, Eureka Seven, or maybe Michiko to Hatchin vibe from what little I've seen of Carole yet - maybe more in terms of art or feeling than anything else?
It's been fun.I'm interested in seeing how the sci-fi Mars aspect of the series ends up shaping the plot, despite it feeling a bit like NYC but on Mars. Definitely seems like it has promise though.
Really wish it wasn't on Netflix though, I think this is going to fly under many people's radar because of it.
Kenja no Mago episode 1:
rather generic, but it's competently made and the character interactions are fun, so i will keep watching
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistSarazanmai - So, remember how basically everyone took one look at the synopsis for this and thought "wow, that's freaking weird?". Well, it's even freaking weirder than that.
Thing is, though, it's also damn good. The animation is phenomenal, the characters are interesting, the comedy is fun, and the symbolism is top notch. If you can get past the absolute weirdness that the entire thing takes place in, this seems to be a really good story about people's innermost secrets and desires, and how connections can be made because or in spite of these things. Just beware the weirdness.
With this, though, there are no more anime in this season that I'm particularly interested in. I have to say that this season is feeling a lot weaker than any other recent one. I don't know if last year was so stacked that it's made my expectations become higher than they should be, but there are only two, maybe three shows that made me interested enough to watch beyond the first episode, and even then I'm not sure whether I'll keep watching any of them. So yeah, I'm feeling a bit down on this season. Dunno if it's a thing everyone else is feeling.

That would work if there wasn’t Mob’s growth as a person as an ongoing thing & the fact is it’s not complete at the end of season 1.
