Alright, having watched the first episode... Time to make a thread on this anime. But first thing first, an introduction for the anime for those who don't know the story courtesy of MAL:

"Yukiya, who is "probably" 14 years old, spends his time DJ-ing alone. Due to his father's influence, he's listened to house music since he was young, and he uploads videos online. He wants to convey something to someone. He wants to be recognized, and become important. But getting hurt is scary. One day, while trying to get more views, he does something that can't be undone. And he sees a live broadcast from "that world." Yukiya believes he can't do anything alone, but that he could accomplish something if he were doing it together with someone else."

Okay, having watched the first episode... I got baited that I watched the Stealth Sequel of a notorious anime called Handshakers which is the anime all about. Anyways, Episode 1 focuses on an aspiring DJ named Yukiya along with his best friend, Haruka, together they go into another world like Handshakers world because why not and in the end, they fight against the people who has the Handshakers abilities because why not. And Yukiya went into another world for improving his DJ abilities I guess. The reason why I said this anime is a Stealth Sequel of Handshakers is because it was never mentioned in the trailer regarding the anime being sequel on Handshakers until the drop of the first episode which blatantly reference the Handshakers anime and was set 10 years after Handshakers as far as I recall.

Oh boy, this anime could be one of the biggest punching bags of the season due to its connection with the notorious anime and it's Go Hands after all. But hey! The anime could be going for the better or for the worse. So far the story is okay albeit a bit confusing and compared to Handshakers, the animation is passable I guess. Anyone want to follow this anime despite its connection with another notorious anime?

As someone who thought that Handshakers was flawed but reasonably entertaining I did enjoy the first episode of this sequel. It probably could have done with a little more plot but there is nothing wrong with style over substance every now and again. The music and animation were very nice in my opinion.

@Sebastian Grey Nice! There is a person who like this anime despite being connected to Handshakers in a way. Anyways, for the anime itself? I agree with you that the music isn't that bad which is alright given the main character itself is a DJ. And yeah, it could have a room on becoming either better or worse in the future but we'll see in future episodes where this anime just become a punching bag or an Ensemble Dark Horse of the season tongue

I thought Hand Shakers was terrible on every level, but it was a joy to watch with friends. I hope W'z is just as entertaining

I'd be honest, I haven't watch Handshakers fully. Only saw several scenes of it but even then, I'm just gonna go with the flow with this anime so yeah...

Hand Shakers wasn't a masterpiece, but it still had plenty of entertainment value. It wasn't bad, I just think it needed some serious polishing. Hopefully, W'z will correct its predecessor's flaws and deliver an enjoyable experience.

@Master Hero On the same boat as you btw even if I'm a bit scared if it ended up becoming a punching bag of anime community

[up][up]

When the animation is "AH My Eyes!" level bad and leaves people with eyestrain and a headache (and not just a small minority like happened to me with Gankutsuou ) from a single episode it needs considerably more than "polish"

[up]Pretty much this. Personally I didn't have problems with eyestrain, but some of the cinematography occasionaly made me a bit motion sick and I know some people had it worse than me in that regard.

In all honesty though, if its truly connected to Handshakers in terms of story, I'm going to have a bit of a chore regarding this

Episode 2:

Welp, it truly is connected to Handshakers because we saw the main girl from the previous anime lost the power to enter the Ziggurat and she also becomes a teacher. And we also focuses on character motivations why they ended up participating in Ziggurat such as being forced or wanting to stay because of the pretty things in there. Also, is it me or is Yukiya's parents look... Different?

His parents look like the bdsm couple from Handshakers.

Episode 3:

Seems the release of Yukiya's videos are the beginning of the problems the story will had. Also, some characters I don't know from Handshakers are returning and it was revealed that Yukiya was adopted. Why I'm not surprised?

Episode 4:

And up next the Protagonist of the Handshakers makes his appearance in this anime and Yukiya truly has a DJ Idol thanks to his adopted daddy. Also, some interactions between Yukiya and the loli

These backgrounds are terrible wow. At least there weren't any cgi people and we have some action again.

Episode 5:

Since I haven't watch Handshakers yet, I think this episode showcases the relationship between Tazuna and Yukiya. We also get some flashbacks on the two of the Handshakers members who are also Yukiya's enemies for now, Hana and Senri, and it was an interesting relationship. We also got focus on Yukiya's relationship a bit with Haruka in his childhood days and it was revealed that Yukiya had a bit of a hard time to talk in the past and I actually have a feeling that Haruka is also a Handshakers too so yeah...

Jesus this conflict is so contrived.

Apparent the series is getting a stage play. Not sure how it will work.

As for the latest episode: I liked the flashbacks, especially the one for the main pair, and while it may be a little overpowered I have always liked Tazuna's Nimrod and it was good to see it again, even if it was brief.

I always thought Tazuna's power was a waste of an interesting concept. There's so much you can do with gears, but no they just use it to make a ridiculous looking sword and the occasional defense.

I'm late but I really don't care anyways:

Episode 6:

Welp... Seems that the two girls were actually manipulated by an unknown maestro and we will see about them in the future and more flashbacks for one of the Handshakers contestants so yep.

Episode 7:

More developments for the Handshakers characters I guess including Yukiya who spends his time with Tazuna and man that Karaoke scene though :P
