(Moved/crossposted from Ask The Tropers on advice of a mod)

I was doing some edits to the Not Wearing Tights trope page, and I'm having trouble figuring out what the trope is supposed to be about. Half of the description and examples seem to be about stories that have many of the trappings of a superhero story, but for one reason or another are placed in another genre (The Overwatch example is a good illustration of this). The other half seem to just be about superhero stories where the characters don't wear traditional superhero-style clothing (hell, most of the mcu is on the page, as are shows like Heroes and The Flash).

This seems like two different tropes on one page to me. I'm not sure if one or the other is bleed-over from some other trope (and if so, what the name of that trope is), or if we might need to do a launchpad to create a new trope for the stuff irrelevant to the Not Wearing Tights page

I think the latter part is what the trope is actually about. No idea what the former would go under.

Hmm... that fit with the page image as well. Plus, the "superhero story in all but name" interpretation is extremely subjective and would need some help with the examples if that's what we go with. (Is Dresden Files really "almost a superhero story" just because there's people with powers and the setting isn't a Tolkenesque world?)

No matter what the consensus, what should be done about it? There's also a lot of natter on the page, and I could clean it up myself, but I have a couple other page projects going right now too, so it might be a while.

This is worth going to Trope Repair Shop, to be honest.

As I read it, the trope describes characters which could be called superheroes if it wasn't for the missing antics and appearance. There are multiple reasons listed why this could happen (more realistic adaptations, different genres etc.). You could make each of them a different trope, soft-split them or merge into one example pool as currently done.
