I kept meaning to pick this up at some point, but maybe given the above reactions I might just go for the manga instead.

Not sure if the mangaka himself approves of the changes made to the anime such as switching scenes around and stuff..

Since he's working on the anime as one of the writers, he's at least okay with it. Apparently there was even an interview yesterday where he said that he added the additional torture scene this episode for the hell of it.

Final Episode:

Well, what can I say about this? Babel Brigade and her co-horts are still on the loose and prepares to start a war and Kurumi now gains a new slave. We also saw the Chinese Magical Girl also changes her appearance through plastic surgery and working as a mercenary so yea... I think its an okay finale I guess. Don't mind if this ended up having a Season 2 which would be interesting.

Final thoughts on the show: Killing Bites 2.0. everyone? Well, the show sometimes tries to be dark and depressing but there are some times that the show suffer some Mood Whiplash because well... Some narmy elements. But then again, those narmy elements prevent the show on becoming too dark just like Killing Bites. The show is okay I guess, not that much of a stand out but not a bad show either. Its a middle of the road show at the end of the day for me and I wouldnt mind a season 2.

Personally I think that this show works much better if you just watch it as a schlocky ex-CIA action flick and not as any meaningful commentary on PTSD. I certainly enjoyed it that way. Some of the Narm is definitely intentional. Also a "to be continued" ending is probably the best you could hope for with an ongoing manga like this.

Kurumi is the best girl btw

@Rynnec

- I won’t be surprised if he revised the scenes or added some new ones just to save the Eastern Ukraine arc for later in case it gets another season.

Finished it.

…So Kurumi is a rejected character from a hentai anime? Is that the idea? tongue It was just so weird to see what started as a torture scene end on a weirdly positive note… Well, as "positive" as slavery can be… The rest of the episode was alright I guess.

I quite liked episode 11 however. It had better animation than usual for one, Alphonse's death was pretty moving and smol!Tabira is adorable.

As for the anime as a whole… It was okay? Clearly not very high-tier technically and the tone was often a mess, with a lot of the thematic potential being squandered right from the end of episode 1. But I still found the strong bits decently enjoyable.

Off topic but just gonna leave this here because it's from the same author after all:

I recently read the manga called Kings' Viking. (This manga is actually from the same creator of Mahou Shoujo Asuka and this is the reason why I brought this up). For those who don't know the story, the story tells us about an investor named Daisuke Sakai who got an interest with a socially inept 18 year old hacker, Koreeda Kazuki, and due to Daisuke's own ambitions, Daisuke then took Koreeda into his wing so that he could fulfill his wishes to conquer the world.

While Koreeda is seemingly a pessimistic boy at first, he gains some confidence a little bit thanks to not only Sakai but the police force that he collaborates with and as a result, Koreeda tries at his best to improve some security in several companies and fight against cybercrimes on a Global Scale.

The manga is surprisingly pretty neat. Unlike Asuka, this manga feels rather... A little bit grounded on reality I suppose (But it could change in later chapters). Both the two protagonist seems like a decent character despite what Koreeda does is kind of a crime itself. Daisuke is fun and Koreeda is a rather socially awkward boy who does have some OP af cracking skills. From my research, the manga is at it's 17 volume and I'm truly surprised that it hasn't get an anime yet unlike Asuka so yeah...

Just saw the final episode on Funimation. There were some episodes I liked, and some I didn't. The final episode definitely left a bad taste though. I won't go into great detail, but I'll just say that I strongly dislike Kurumi. I also didn't care for how shamelessly sleazy the show is. Fanservice is fine, but there was just some really awful stuff here. I guess the show just isn't for me.
