The one with the old guy reincarnating into a princess named Ryuu?
Yeah, that's the one.
Okay seriously why are characters calling the protagonist of Fiance of the Wizard plain lately? I thought she was supposed to be gorgeous. She certainly looks very beautiful, moreso than the latest person to insult her.
Shoujo stories are not very good at creating plain characters, hence why otome leads stand out more compared go their male counterparts despite not having significantly more personality
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysI mean, I know that, but she is actually more attractive than the girl who was just insulting her. The other girl actually looks quite plain. I mean, I guess that girl had the 'innocent cute girl' type look but the protagonist has the 'calm beauty' design.
Tangent, but one minor thing I enjoy about villainess isekai is that they don't bother with that nonsense. Pretty much every villainess is very pretty and has high status rather than being the down to earth normal girl.

Man, Dad is a Hero, Mom is a Spirit, I'm a Reincarnator is some of the stupidest thing I've read, even by isekai standards. And the author has some weird pet pevees.
Isn't the girl who was insulting her straight up delusional? But yeah, shojo series always have this problem with that sort of stuff.
I mean, that's kind of the whole setting, isn't it? I do agree that it's better.
I also enjoy them because villainess are usually active characters, unlike most shojo heroines.

Dad is a Hero: I don't get why the MC hates her aunt so much. Oh no, she thinks her brother in law is hot, how dare she. Not like she was going to try anything.
Fiance: The other girl is crazy but a demon just said the same thing and the MC agrees with them. I think we're supposed to think she's average.

It's not even the MC who hates her aunt so much; the MC makes clear that normally being in love with another man wouldn't be enough to get judged the way Aria was, otherwise political marriages wouldn't be able to exist in that world. The reason the goddesses (who are Ori's older sisters) got so pissy was because Aria was essentially marrying into the family, so they were basically nitpicking even harder than usual. Still a dumb chapter.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets. And we've spent 4 chapters on this. 4 chapters raking a character over coals for a though crime. And we're not supposed to find it obnoxious?
This series was really stupid before, but it's just getting worse.

Christ, you’re right. I hadn’t even realized. I think I just ended up tuning out how long this dumbassery has been dragging on.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets. The issue is that the judgement happened in a very public event. With the royalty present. The problem brought up is that the aunt is now a potential assassination target for the royal family. The idea is that if the royals think the aunt might cause their returned war hero who is singlehandedly their best deterrent to leave, the royals will decide she needs to be removed.
But yeah, the story should move on from this already.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI think it would be fun if the protagonist was a little girl instead of the usual male nerd types. And the little girl summoned to the world as the Chosen One befriends the usual girls you would find in a harem archetype and sees them as surrogate sister types.
In the time it took you to post that, four of those were published, except the little girl is a salaryman in all of them.
It's been fun.Why is the little girl an office worker?
Edited by firewriter on Dec 6th 2019 at 4:17:46 AM
Because Japan has terrible labor laws.
Oh, I thought you meant Tanya/Slime style where the salaryman becomes a little girl for fanservice reasons.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobThat is what I meant, yes.
It's been fun. Here's a thought, does isekai have any iconic or well-known villains?
Like there are plenty of villains in manga that are famous to the general audience so does the genere have any that comes to mind?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I guess probably Ainz from Overlord, but he's a Villain Protagonist. Aside from that, I think most isekai villains end up pretty formulaic and tend to be easy to beat.
Of course, then you have ones like Betelgeuse from Re:Zero...
It's been fun.Isekai have a reputation for Narmy, over-the-top villains lacking complex characterization. Probably the Ur-Example is most villains in Sword Art Online. Because of the (frankly indulgent) nature of most isekai, the villain is really just a prop to show how awesome the hero is.
Betelgeuse is memorable at least for how bizarre he is, which is more than many can say, but he kind of exemplifies the trend still.
I can't think of any isekai villains that someone that doesn't read the series would be likely to recognize. Unless you count the villain protagonist stories like Overlord.
Malty maybe? At least I know who she is, but I haven't the faintest idea as to whether she's actually important or just really controversial.
Just for the record Ainz doesn't count.
By being the protagonist he's more of a well-known hero like Rimuru/Slime or Shield Hero.
Edited by slimcoder on Dec 6th 2019 at 6:24:57 AM
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Not familiar with Shield Hero, but Ainz is nowhere near as "heroic" as Rimuru. While he doesn't seem fully aware of all the atrocities his subordinates commits, the are plenty of things his culpable for. The only upside are the positive outcomes for those in his favor (intentional or not).
What?
