Bypassing the 19 minute edit lock

I have really crappy internet service that goes out multiple times per day, sometimes multiple times per hour, and my internet goes down again before the 19 minute wait is up. In fact, my internet's down about 70% of the time. How can I bypass this so I can edit without waiting almost a third of an hour just to make a simple edit? This wasn't a problem before but my crappy internet is making it impossible to participate on this Wiki anymore.

The checkout lock is to prevent other users from editing an article while you are working on it. However, this lock is removed if you cancel the edit, save the edit, or edit another article.

If you have unreliable internet, you have a couple of options:

  • Compose your edits offline, edit the article, and save them immediately.
  • If you get disconnected, open a different article for editing, then go back to the one you wanted to work on.

We are not going to change this functionality because of your problems.

Um, is the issue that when you try to edit after an Internet crash, it shows as checked out by you? That is a legit issue.
