I don't think either of those points are all that valid. Unless Lebron's acting is fantastically bad, it shouldn't matter. And the presence of the Looney Tunes isn't going to sink a movie.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireBesides, I'm not watching a basketball movie for the stellar acting. It doesn't have to be Shakespeare.
Now I'm imagining Kenneth Branagh playing basketball. Wouldn't that be fun?

Optimism is a duty.Yes it would.
But I’m wondering what would make people want to see a Space Jam movie in this day and age. It was a punchline for decades.
Also, I'll bite: of all the places in the DC universe to pick for a basketball game, why Themyscira?
It's been 3000 years…Jordan wasn't the best actor but he was surrounded by both Looney Tunes and amusing side actors like Bill Murray and Wayne Knight. The thing I'm kind of questioning is the claim that they are looking into exploring the entire library of Warner Brothers films, as that feels a bit outside the scope of a Looney Tunes movie and may require more acting from Lebron.
Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!Space Jam somehow gained a bigger following within the past few years, probably for the nostalgia factor.

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Girl Power.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Sure, girl power is a thing that's very overbearing, but they're perpetually in ancient Greek society, why would they know how to shoot hoops?
It's been 3000 years…Maybe the Greeks invented basketball?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Everyone's debating about how sexual Lola needs to be, and I'm over here wondering if the whole spiel about her being an Amazon and "more than just a tune" means she's still not going to be funny.
I was hoping that the redesign meant they were drawing from the more recent stuff with Lola, but if it's all part of an empowerment message there's a possibility that they're not doing this with the point of view that the character also needs to be fun.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.x4: They're not having a basketball game in Themyscira. Part of the film's plot has Lebron trying to reunite the Tune Squad, whom have all separated into various Warner Bros.-related properties including "a banished Bugs".
Basically, the crossover equivalent of a tournament recruitment arc.
The actual basketball will take place in Al G Rhythm's custom basketball court against his "Goon Squad".
Agreed, it runs the risk of leaning into feminism so much they neglect to make her actually funny, which is a mortal sin for a Toon.
Optimism is a duty.To note, "her being feminist runs counter to her being funny" is not at all what I said or meant to imply.
I'm not concerned with her being feminist, I'm concerned with her being serious. That was a problem in the original as well: Lola was serious, and wasn't funny (which actually put her a peg below fellow "sexual joke" toon Jessica Rabbit, due to that character having a lot of wit and irony to her).

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The comic book character Lola should be meeting with is Harley Quinn, who is feminist, hilarious, and a big Looney Tunes fan.
I am reminded of how hilarious she and her father was in The Looney Tunes Show.
Man her dad was a hoot.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The Looney Tunes Show was simply fantastic.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireIt looks like Pepe won't be in Space Jam 2.
It's underrated .
Btw could we get animaniacs as one of the worlds since it is a loony tunes property ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."That's what I meant, Unknown. Feminist characters can get too serious, and that's a problem when you're supposed to be a Toon.
Optimism is a duty.Man I already dread how they might portray her.
Just this humorless "badass" who's hypercompetent and takes things far more serious than her male cohorts, effectively playing women are wiser completely straight.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The Looney Tunes Show's version of Lola was pure hilarity. It's like they took the "original Lola isn't very looney" criticism and dealt with it by actively making her the most insane character in the series.
Dot Warner disagrees.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Harley Quinn is considered a feminist character and no one would accuse her of being too serious.
This fear that Lola won't be funny or interesting because of feminism at best sounds like paranoia and at worst sounds like the typical "anti-SJW" complaining. All we know about Lola thus far is that they aren't going the Ms. Fanservice route with her which means they are at least trying to do something more interesting with her than just being the token girl of the Toon Squad.
Are you missing my point on purpose?
You're missing the point, what I was saying was that writers sometimes make feminist characters too serious, which is a problem when they are supposed to be comedy characters. I am not at all saying this has to be the case.

Optimism is a duty. She was hilarious in that show.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"
Michael Jordan wasn’t an actor. For the man’s near infinite talent on the court, he was not an actor and it showed in awkward delivery and line reading. And Le Bron isn’t one either. So I expect a disconnect.
