Super Smash Bros Ultimate (SPOILER Thread)

Rumor has it that the DLC wasn't selling much anyway so they probably saved money with that move.

I hesitate to assume that any company with an extremely popular subscription-based MMO is financially struggling in any way.

The lost money was from opening a new studio and - speculating here since we don't know how the DLC sold - losses from their 2 years of supporting XV, who's Royal Edition was selling abysmally.

They're fine otherwise. They have nothing to lose by ignoring this game.

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on that leak. They claim to have inside knowledge on way too much stuff for me to believe it. Here's an update on the internal status of Atlus! And ArcSys! And Sora! And SE!

Also I'm not really sure that P5R or P5U actually exist

P5R and P5U were domains registered by Atlus.

Companies register domains they don't intend to use all the time. If it's something that people might expect to happen it's best to register the domain just to stop someone else from putting up a fake there

I know that. But I feel that the stars seem to be aligning for a Switch port of P5 to be true. I don't think Joker would have made it into the game if Atlus hadn't given Nintendo something in return. Why bother adding a character whose game will never show up on the Switch? With FFVII finally popping up on the Switch, I think P5R is due to be announced sometime around the April Persona concert.

How come none of the leaks have another platinum games rep? I mean, all the leaks have another se rep/namco rep, I don't find it that out of the questipn to put in another platinum games charecter, since platinum and nintendo have been very chummy since the wii u. So I don't think it's that out of the question for wonder red from wonderful 101/jack caymen from madworld/anarchy reighns. As for the SE rep, nintendo already got the rights to use geno, hell se only let them use cloud, geno and mallow so therefore a mario rpg charecter would be the easiest tonegotiate. Maybe mallow or geno or maybe even smithy or some free echoes WAAAY down the line, like booster for wario or boshi for yoshi, mayhaps?

Platinum Games is a developer studio, not a publisher. Most of their games are usually published by a different company.

For example, 2B would be a square character even though her game was developed by platinum games.

Ah forgot about that. So jack caymen would be a sega charecter and wonder red would be nintendo. It's weird to me that nintendo and sega co-own the rights to bayonetta 2 and 3. Sorry, I forgot.

Bayonetta's in the game, too, so we already have a Platinum character.

Yep i know that kupo, I was pondering about a second platinum charecter joining.

The Star Fox crew technically are Platinum Games characters too.

There is also MGRR Raiden spirit. Also the Wonderful 101 spirits.

They have plenty of stuff here besides Bayo

Yeah because fox,falco and wolf are modelled after star fox zero. I still find it kinda jarring that samus is based on her wii incarnation from other m while everybody else is based on their wii u/3ds/switch incarnations. Somewhat justified since they are pulling from all eras of nintendo history.

I think they should have reskinned Samus to use her design from the Metroid 2 remake instead of reskinning Zelda. Her design in the previous game was fine and didn't need to be changed.

The new Zelda is miles MUCH better than the old Zelda.

Never liked the stoic TP design.

Which is ironic, seeing how the 'new' Zelda is technically the old Zelda. AKA the one from A Ltt P.

That's kind of a Flip-Flop of God.

Some parts say that this Zelda is from ALTTP while other times it says that she is the one from ALBW. Her spirit artwork is from the latter game and even Sakurai said her design is lifted from that game so i'm going with this being the ALBW Zelda.

And that game came after TP so From a Certain Point of View i'm right

Massihiro sakurai has said that multi media charecters like spongebob or goku are an impossibility. But goku does have a SLIM chance since he has been highly requested since melee, and namco bandai owns the video game rights to goku, but at the same time I doubt sakurai would go back on his words so quickly. He said that animal crossing charecters and ridley were an impossibility in melee, we got villager in 4 and ridley in ult. Sakurai said spongebob/goku were impossible during smash 4's dlc and pre-production of ultimate.

I don't like the constant requests for Goku because they seem to actually annoy Sakurai.

They're also dumb.

Yeah, if you have to tell your fanbase that goku and freakin spongebob aren't in your game, you probably going to question the entirety of the fanbase.

I hate it when people bitch that a new charecter isn't goku, if we do get goku its gonna open up the flood gates of hell and let any charecter from any medium in smash. Thus making it feel less like a celabration of video game history and more of a crack fan fic.

At first it was just a Nintendo game.

Then it was "games and franchises closely tied to Nintendo."

Now any popular video game character can get in. I hate to say this, but it's honestly not that huge a stretch for a character that isn't strictly game related to make it on the roster, and given the game's Japanese Goku would be the one if it was any of them. What Smash is is whatever they say it is.

The day that Goku gets in is the day Smash bros loses its appeal to me.

Any game charecter was a possibility since brawl, metal gear only had porting disater versions on nes, a spinoff on gbc, and a remake on gamecube. Resident evil has more to do with nintendo than metal gear. The only rule is "has to debut in a video game" there's not much rules besides that. Since we've seen major shake ups to the "rules" with charecters like ridley,richter, and pirahna plant.
