The way she describes it it sounds like her whole government has been a Deadly Decadent Court since her mothers died. I hope we get to see it in a future season.

I don't mind the "smart child ruler" trope in this case, because it fits into the overall theme of the new generation learning from the mistakes of the old and doing things differently - most likely better.

So on sidenote, how long you think it takes for Dragon Prince get huge enough that shippers and fandom turn toxic? [lol]

Who knows...the fandom seems to be pretty small still.

It does have base for that to happen though. I mean, people are already shipping characters who barely interact, the setting is gray and gray morality which allows people blind to nuance be like "genocide is totes okay!" and there are fangirls for the pretty mystery villain already [lol]

Anyone else think Aaravos's voice dosen't fit? The delivery is fine but hearing such deep voice comming from such an...effeminate looking guy is just kind of weird to me.

It does honestly fit. Plus its kinda dumb stereotype that lean people can't have deep voices [lol]

People always pair characters up. But there is a difference between playing around with options and actively shipping something. I.e. the Skimmons shipper of Agents of Shield are completely on board with Fitzsimmons (but then, pretty much everyone is on board with Fitzsimmons).

I know you probably don't mean any harm, but this sort of question strikes me as really offensive actually. Basically you're implying a lot of bad stuff about the sort of person you think the content of this show would attract, which also says a lot about how you see the content itself. And when this show inevitably doesn't explode in popularity (90% chance it won't, it would've happened already), it just makes the asker look really mean-spirited.

I've had the exact same sort of discussion centered around a project a friend of mine made that I promoted on my blog before, and it's really kind of sad. Since, you know, that friend's project languished in obscurity and they're still barely making ends meet with part time jobs. While smart-asses on the internet are mocking their product for supposedly hitting checkboxes that they think will appeal to bad sorts of people "when it inevitably becomes popular enough to be annoying."

Hmm, I'm gonna edit this message and ask the rest in PM because I don't want to derail the thread since it is very much possible I misunderstood something. Anyhoo, I was referring to The Law of Fan Jackassery and not the content of people or show.

That was me at making joke about how gray conflicts gets turned to black and white conflicts sometimes in fandoms tongue

So side note, apparently Book of Destiny episode's books on Aaravaros are actually readably or translatable. First one was in Arabic, Second one was in danish. Considering twitter poem about "Elarion" and Elarion is somehow hinted to be connected to dark magic as well, seems like Aaravaros was the actually one to taught dark magic to humans in first place?

Also amused to learn they DID originally plan to have whole trio to go to Xadia only to realize when actually writing episode its more in character for Ezren to return after that point :D So that Sol Regem poster would have been originally "canon"

Okay, so just finished the season. Thought it was pretty good, an better than the first, which I also thought was good.

I'm actually liking what they're doing with the Gray-and-Grey Morality so far and handling most of the major characters.

I'm a bit conflicted on the little girl Queen, but for now she was good. I was a bit annoyed by how passive literally everyone else at the meeting was though.

I also get why Dark Magic is considered a bad thing, that was shown well enough, but I also second the notion about power being as good as the wielder and not begrudging Claudia for what she did to save Sorin.

More thoughts probably to come later.

I do like the show seems to be setting up Callum and Viren as counterparts. The lightning rod and mirror scenes, Virens frustrations over the the mirror when it seems "normal" easily gives the impression about himself as much as it is the mirror itself.

A character that still seems strange to me is Viren, I know he's a villain, but I'm not sure how sympathetic he is supposed to be.

Speaking of shipping, as a couple I like Rayla+Callum. But if one thinks about it, within the universe of the series, our hero only knows Rayla from just over a week ago.

It would be very rare for him to prefer a woman he met recently (Rayla), about another woman he had known for years.(Claudia)

Nooo I love the dark elf guy's voice, it's great. He was legitimately unsettling when he first walked towards the mirror.

Anyway I finished season 2 in one go. Callum's mom was freakin legit, nice to see a queen that kicks butt. Come to think of it there's a lot of badass women on this show.

I wasn't expecting little bro to leave the party. Admittedly I found him kind of annoying this season but it's kind of odd seeing him leave. I imagine we'll get another party member to join next season.

And Claudia rocks. I gotta say that I really like how magic is handled in this show.

Viren's scene where he gets frustrated over the mirror, knocks everything over and then snuffs out the flames with a snap was super cool.

I really love how Sarai did have points in her discussion with Harrow. That they need to question if the Magma Titan is a sapient being like them and to treat sacrificing a living being with its own mind with the gravity said sacrifice requires.

Claudia is easily the best character in this show and it's not even close.

Claudia is the "First girl" so she should WIN. But it seems like it's a bit of a twist here - like they're setting up an Aang Katara vibe but may actually twist it.

With Claudia he likes her because she's funny, charming and also one of the few girls he actually SEES. So it would make sense for him to crush hard.

She's good and a great character but I'm not sure a romance... works? Not quite sure why. Where as Rayla is friendship and potential romance formed by companionship and building trust, not just by proximity over a longer period of time.

It could be Rayla just becomes a really solid friend, like Toph. But Claudia has a redemption arc she needs to get through, plus we have the whole Dark Magic clearly being addictive AND corrupting to contend with.

Honestly, I don't care either way. Those are teenagers. Claudia is barely old enough to consider a romance which could last a lifetime. The others are all in an age in which they will change a lot before they are old enough to settle down with anyone.

At least this time there won't be anything creepy about the romance. I never liked Katara/Aang, because she was often acting more like a mother towards him than a friend. It just felt off. This time around I don't care, because all characters are on more even footing.
