Daikon considered challenging the other team to a sparring session, but decided against it.
"Well, they do look pretty powerful, with those magic sticks. If we lose, we'll look like fools."
"We just got a preview of their powers—why not train some more, and then kick ass in the tournament proper?"

Joanie eyed the other team, sizing them up. Daikon was right, but even so.
“If we fight them in the tournament and lose, we’ll look like even bigger fools.
“I say we take them on, just to get an idea of what they’re capable of fighting opponents who hit back.”
She turned to Marina. “You’re the tiebreaker.”
"If magic sticks are an issue, don't worry about that." Marina stomped on the edge of her board to send it spinning up into her hand, then showed off the arcane sigils the Kjelberg neopagans inscribed onto it, holding it out like an FBI badge or something. "Once I fell off this board and sent it flying into a truck. The truck was the one that didn't walk away from that." Her free hand slid up to her hat and she adjusted it a little bit, making sure it was firmly in place. "I say we tangle with 'em. It doesn't even have to be a big Thing anyway, we can totally make it a friendly, you know?"
With the decision made, Marina turned around and waved at the other Team, trying to get their attention before she went over to talk.

"Before we do any battling, I just want to say that guns will only feel like BB shots during the tournament. I don't know why, but it happens every year."
"Well, Gabe, you ready for this?"
Marco steps out and gets into a reserved grappler stance.
The Second South Town team direct their attention to the approaching Wheels of Fortune team, the Kanes lowering their sticks.
"Hello! What brings you to us?"
Wheels Of Fortune Team, go ahead and decide Team Order, would you please?

Gabriel gave a questioning glance at Fio, but shrugged. He's used his ki to block bullets a couple of times, (not his best moment, but it ended pretty well, all things considered) but that's another day's story.
Nodding at Marco, he went into his own stance, trying to do this right.

Daikon swallowed nervously, and put on her brave face.
I can do this! she thought. They may have magic sticks, but you have magic school supplies. They should more or less cancel each other out. Probably.
"Can we spar, just before the Tournament? To get in some practice?" she asked, gesturing to her team and theirs.

Marina jerked her head up at Billy as a means of greeting. She was not going to let herself get thrown off now. She smiled. "Sup man, my friend here Daikon's got it right. We're looking to spar, put ourselves out there before the real thing. Call me Melter. Me and her and Joanie back there, with the skates, we're Team Wheels of Fortune." She looked around and back to her partners. "Uh, I figure since I was the one that thought it up I'd be the one to go first, if that's cool with you."

"I have way too many reservations about this, but sign me up for number two."

"Alrighty then! You got yourselves a match! Lilly, you take lead. I get second, and Yamazaki, you take back. And try not to kill them, will ya?"

And with that, Billy motioned for the two teams to exit the signup station, where a street awaited their fight.
Marco blocked before going for a gut punch.
"You two don't hurt each other too much now!"

Melter pumped her fist in excitement and laughed, following the Southtowners out into the street. She gently coasted on her board and slid a hand up to grab the deployable barrier, a gift from the weirdos in BARRIER KULT. They were cool and all, but she was still never going back to Kjelberg. Or the midwest at all. That's what this was all for, after all; the fame and eventual fortune. She set up her phone on her tripod at a good angle to capture the fight, then hooked it up to a speaker too. She was going to give her first fight a good soundtrack.
"When you're ready." She said, as an earnestly self-indulgent skater jam
started pumping out of the speakers.

Gabriel took the gut punch with a grunt, but was standing, and decided to respond with a ki-less version of the Moon Fang.
"Don't worry" He said to Fio "Once we see enough, we stop it"

Daikon exited the signups area and entered the street to begin the fight.
She considered the weapons in her bag. Pencils seemed a bit like overkill...protractors were for long-ranged attacks...triangle rulers were too pointy...
Ah, screw it. Mano e mano was where it was at. Daikon dropped into a fighting stance behind Marina.
"Seconded!" she piped.

Joanie made a show of stretching her robot legs as she looked over their opponents.
“Also seconded. Or thirded.”

Daikon bounced on the balls of her feet to the beat of the music Marina was playing.
Any second now, the fight would start...

Lilly poked at the feet with her stick before swinging upward.
Nice lampshade there, btw.
Marco weaved one punch, but got hit by the other and slid back.
"Hmph, that's got some power behind it."
Marco went in for a grab, which would lead to a suplex if it connected.
Marco will play like more of a grappler, while having a shotgun and rocket launcher for more advanced moves. Fio will end up having the basic stuff from her Maximum Impact incarnation, but with a bit more gunplay and hints of Leona.

Gabriel, looking at the charge, charged his ki, spreading his arms and bringing his arms together in a clawing motion, shooting a cross shaped Ki blast, which made a howling sound.
"Howling Blast!" He shouted, and followed up with a series of kicks, starting on the leg and ending with a strong one to the chest.

"Hey, watch it Daikon, I'm up first!" Marina called out, before moving in. She laughed at the staff coming at her low. It was the perfect opportunity to try some straight up horseshit she'd dreamed of but never thought she'd have the opportunity to try! As Lilly jabbed forward with the staff Marina did a short ollie to get out of the way, then attempted to land directly on the staff so that she could grind up its length and jump off at the proper moment to try to plant her board directly on her opponent's face.
Gabriel had a funny look in his face, but just nodded.
"So, we need to make a plan for the tournament, if nothing else to look like we are taking it seriously" He said "And it'll be good to see what you can do"
