Not every trope needs a codifier. Immortality has been a topic of human culture going back to practically the dawn of human culture. Certainly any origin of the concept would be Older Than Dirt, and passed down through oral tradition across many cultures in different ways. It's not going to be a discrete case, like "Twilight invented sparkly vampires."

Point taken. The important thing to note is that not every trope has a single, defining example that everyone agrees on as the moment when it got formally inducted into popular culture.
