15 works for me.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but to me directing multiple flops in a row and directing another movie after your biggest flop doesn't really seem to contradict the point of the trope. The work doesn't need to force the creator out of an industry; ruining their reputation or chances of success works too. (Plus, it still remains to be seen if Split will resurrect his career.)
(he/him) ANIMAL SPORTSThat's exactly what it says on the page:
And that swathe of bad-to-mediocre films definitely made him something of a bad-director punchline on the internet, so I would still say it counts.
So there's 8 votes in favor of #15. That's enough, right?
In case it's not, I'll also cast my vote for 15.
''“You want a planet? I’ll give you a planet! Heck, I’ll give you your own solar system! No, I’ll give you a house... in Boca Raton!Yep, that's plenty of consensus. The pic and caption are up and the tag's adjusted; locking up.
I'm not good with 15 since Shyamalan made multiple flops in a row and still directed a movie after The Last Airbender. It's not actually illustrative and super caption-reliant.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
