So does it count as Genre-Busting or a Genre Mashup if the genres being combined are similar? Like, let's say someone creates a work that is both a mystery and spy fiction. Technically they're two distinct genres, but there's a lot of similarity between the two. It seems like most spy novels have a level of mystery to them. So, would it make sense to list that work as an example of Genre-Busting? What if someone was combining sub-genres, like Cosmic Horror and Gothic horror? Would that be considered Genre-Busting?

Genre Mashup is, according to the first sentence of the description. "A mixture of seemingly disparate genres together." If they're similar or seem to fit together, it doesn't count.

Genre-Busting is when it doesn't fit any genre at all. A mix of genres doesn't count if it's still recognisable as a mix.
