Fallout: 76 - Take Me Home, Country Roads

Apparently FO 76 and a bunch of other Bethesda titles are coming to steam as part of this sudden “Exclusives War” between Valve and Epic Games.

I think it's partly that, and partly Bethesda thinking that they will get a bit more money from folks who haven't been burned already by the game will now buy it because it is suddenly appearing on their favourite games store.

It would have been a good strategy sooner but at this point they're just throwing good money after bad because the reputation damage has been done.

Found the best lead source that isn't usually already raided by the time you get there.

So, I hear Bethesda is introducing Repair Kits. Consumable items you can purchase on the Atom Shop to fix equipment in the field, after they apparently nerfed the perk card that slows the rate of equipment breakdown. And they're also talking about introducing refrigerators to the game after players have noticed that their food is spoiling a lot faster since a patch.

Thus, cries of "pay to win" microtransactions, because 76 needed more controversy.

"Win" what?

It's not exactly a competitive PVP. It's just an open world survival game...

Honestly, working refrigerators are a long time coming. I can keep veggies fresher pressed up against my apparently ice cold buttocks than I can in the steel icebox I built in the basement of my campsite structure?

They are selling consumables. One-time use items.

This after they had promised the shop would only sell cosmetic stuff.

What, did Bethesda decide that now would be a good time to pull this stunt while everyone's too busy reading that Anthem article?

On the bright side, we got a new Monster Factory out of it

I figured everyone had already moved on to other games, to be honest.

"Guys, everybody is paying attention to that Anthem game and talking about how bad it is. We can't let that happen. Do something stupid so they'll talk about how bad our game is again."

I’m not sure if they want to pull a No Such Thing as Bad Publicity or if they really want to kill off the Fallout franchise.

More like it's a continuation of Bethesda's push towards more monetization. In hindsight, Horse Armor was a sign of things to come.

Considering the mess that's being made around Elder Scrolls Blades, I don't even consider this all that surprising.

I'm actually starting to get worried for Elder Scrolls VI at this point.

This is mindboggling. I honestly thought they ran out of ways to make themselves look bad.

Elder Scrolls VI? You mean the newly-released Skyrim Elsewyr mod available on the Creation Club?

They've also added Atom points as event rewards. Or something like that. I got a bunch for free doing I can't remember what. I think maybe logging into the Beta survival mode?

I dunno guys. I just can't muster any anger over this.

So apparently they gave Oxhorn a shoutout in a terminal entry in the new update. Which would be great if it weren’t for the fact that it’s semi-recently come to light that he’s a massively homophobic bigot, among other things.
