There seems to be some confusion as to just what this trope is about, which I suspect is related to its rename. The current name implies that it's the ethnic equivalent to But Not Too Black, and that it specifically requires that one of the character's ethnicities is "native". The problem is that the original trope was just about being of mixed race, with the Trope Namer being essentially a Heinz Hybrid with races instead of species. A lot of examples still use the old criteria, and frankly, I feel like a trope rename shouldn't change the trope.
