That was a nice wrap up for that little arc. It's a nice touch that It's less just getting expelled and more a case of "this isn't the right program for you, so here are some other options." It's cool that they didn't frame it as a "you have to succeed at everything every time or you're a failure. The only real failure is giving up on yourself.

Which makes you wonder why they paint themselves as worse than they are… I mean, the school's nickname is the "The Ogre's Tower" for Chirst's sake. >.>

Well, even if they are a bit more merciful than they first let on, it probably still is one of the most difficult programs out there, and if you stay in it, you're pretty much going to get the manga equivalent of Training from Hell.

Some news: the new chap isn't quite done yet, but we've released updated versions of chapter 4 and 5 (and soon 6 too), because they have a number of differences − some lines were changed and some scenes were added or tweaked from the magazine version.

That's just for volume 1; there weren't any changes in volume 2, or at least I didn't notice any.

Eiji Masuda has a new manga out? Why didn't I hear of this earlier? I'll definitely check it out once it comes overseas.

Are there any plans for a western release? It took them a while for his previous series to get licensed, so if they're not doing simultaneous releases it might be a while.

Yeah, it took something like 3 years for Jitsu wa to get an English release… But maybe Seven Seas will jump on the bandwagon sooner for this one if Jitsu's sales were okay, I don't know.

That and as far as I'm aware, Jitsu Wa is a pretty niche series. It's well regarded, but I wouldn't call it well known.

Yeah, the artstyle and comedic style weren't for everyone. Hachi seems more "accessible" by comparison.

Chapter 30 out! Lots of feels. Hoozuki leaves, Alice and Mowhawk bid him farewell, our three mains ascend to the D rank, and it turns out Enma was none other than the author of Hachi's favorite manga. A forgotten author who was most likely axed at some point.

That reveal gives so much weight to the arc in retrospect…

Ooh, yeah, it'll be interesting to reread and see how that factors in.

Especially the words he uses during the press conference… Is there a trope for this kind of self-inflicted Ironic Echo…?

I'm honestly starting to wonder if Myaako has a Split Personality…

It wouldn't surprise me if she did. Also, part of me wants the next chapter to result in one of the teachers shutting down the competition because Mikeya doesn't have the authority to let some random student into the A-rank, prodigy or no.

I'm not familiar with the author's writing since I didn't read/watch Jitsu wa but I don't think the bet will be a problem since it's too early for Hachi to beat Mike.

Yeah, I'm actually surprised that that editor can waltz in the school grounds like that… but I doubt the duel will have any consequences beyond psychological ones.

On another note, I first organized the character page by ranks but if the characters' ranks keep changing that might not work so well… Do you have a better idea?

I'd say maybe organize them by year. Like how Hachi, Mikeya, Handa, Ran, etc. are all first years, vs. characters like Alice who are further along. Their ranks might change, but their class years wouldn't.

Isn't their college/school just a two year one though? I guess it'd still work either way.

And how can it not sell well with so much… volume on the front.

So I was at the grocery store today, in the Halloween section they have a panda head mask that's really similar to the thing that Handa wears.

…Because pandas are scary? >.> I guess it depends on the one wearing the thing.
