Fate/Extra Last Encore

Just jotting down my reactions to the stream, will post something more coherent when subs are out:
OP is okay but straight-haired Saber is something we definitely need more of.

F/GO, once again proofing that it exist to create filler Servants.

Meanwhile, Hakuno being superfluous for like most of the episode (seriously, I almost bet even Sieg has less one-sided conversations) before like last bit of the episode, where shit is starting to go.

Deadface is connected to Chakaravatrin.

I don't wanna watch it until I know what I am going into so, it's there superior waifu already? I heard she is supposed make appearance, even though Hakuno got plot irrelevant inferior waifu as his servant this time.

Sort of interesting that Amari was the one who convinced Shinji to kill Hakuno, even if not directly.

I'm glad they establish this Saber is bisexual even if she'll likely stick with Hakuno.

I think the Shinji they met in the city is a fake or he forgot who Hakuno was because he didn't seem to recognize the guy he killed to get there in the first place.

In the time it took for Hakuno to get down to the incinerator and summon Saber and ride the elevator, Shinji took control of the first level. So are all of them going to be operating on Year Inside, Hour Outside rules?

Hakuno is a Moon Cancer born from idk the grudges of all the dead Hakunos or NPCs accumulating, and is going to somehow screw up the Moon Cell at some point.

Like they are recognizable elements, but it's changed so much I can;t really tell what's going on.

At least Saber is a lot of fun. She was the best part of the episode.

Also, Hakuno is so full of hate, but they don't explain why.

Oh yeah I like Rin and Shinji's new outfits, Extra!Rin's original outfit was really bad.

Pretty much my general reaction.

I guess they had to get the Info Dump on the Grail War and the Servants out of the way for the newcomers, and then dove right into Red Saber being herself. She's as entertaining as always.

Also, 128 Masters? I know that's the number that was in the game, but didn't last episode say that Hakuno was the 208th or something?

And wtf is Dead Face? Some kind of attack program, I'm guessing, but Hakuno has never been much of a hacker.

Also, I can't help but think that SE.RA.PH. is pulling one over on Shinji. A place outside the Moon Cell's control? Such a place does not exist on the Near Side. I'm betting this is all some kind of test by SE.RA.PH. of the Masters.

I like how they did the exposition during a bath scene. It was like they were saying: "Sorry guys, we got to get this infodump out of the way, so here's Saber prancing around naked while we do it."

Oh, I know these are just fansubs, but why did they translate "shousa" as "Maestro", do you think?

All the officially translated stuff with Red Saber has it as "Praetor".

Yeah, "Maestro" doesn't make a lick of sense given the context.

奏者 is a music thing so Praetor is actually less fitting then Maestro.

Also apparently that 280 Master thing was a mistranslation, the unique thing about Hakuno is that they're the 129th Master when there are only supposed to be 128.

According to the Last Encore website, Dead Face is a thing that happened because of Saver's NP but other then that ???

I like how Hakuno spends 90% of the time vacantly staring at stuff and 10% of the time reminding us that his thought processes are significantly more alarming than our thought processes.

IMHO, I feel like the whole thing with Chakravartin is bit suspicious. Mainly because of them saying that outright. I feel like there is a twist in the making, especially due of origin of the term Chakravartin.

A couple of thoughts:

Hakuno is like a perfect mix of standard game protagonist and typical Nasu protagonist— Generic, passive dude that people love for no obvious reason, but also has mental problems and a superpower that's weird even for the setting

I think Amari is here to be master of Lancer. The choices for Lancer in the original story are awkward for a couple of reasons, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted someone new or Liz

I didn't know they went with the Roman King Arthur theory. Did that not come up in the first anime or was it something that added later?

Point still stands, I miss when there was one Saber and the genderflip was a very novel and logical idea.

...You seem confused here. The Saber from the original game, Artoria Pendragon, comes from a legendary England of the sort that never existed outside of stories IRL. She's not Roman. The Saber in this work is Roman, but has no real connection to Artoria beyond a certain resemblance

Saber's a character class, dude. There was always going to be more of them

Oh, ok. I thought the original King Arthur Saber was supposed to be Roman and I never heard, but now there's a new Saber who is. Again.

I do know Saber is a character class, but half the Archers aren't the same spiky-haired Shrio Emiya character. I hate how they keep reusing her design.

Fate/stay Night finally got me into Arthurian Legend, so I really like the original Saber and wish we had more interesting new Sabers instead of copies of her.

Agreed. In addition, the original Saber had a great design, but all other Sabers have just had really trashy designs that don't really capture the appeal of the original.

It is annoying, yes. Unfortunately, Artoria's design is Takeuchi's (lead character designer for the Fate franchise) favorite, and he's completely unrepentant about that.
