And not bringing it back means it'll never have that chance. Fox has some properties that I can see Disney capitalizing on. Probably not Futurama. Firefly? Still probably not. Buffy the Vampire Slayer? More likely.

The deal could be closed by mid-March...

Mexico?
Mileena MadnessAnd Mexico. Sorry about the confusion there.
I wonder how they gauge the worth of the stocks which exchange hands….
Did Australia vote? If so, I must’ve missed it.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.Oh god.
The implications of this to the deal are massive. Two of the executives implicated in the fraud are heading to Disney, and that puts Iger in a very uncomfortable position. Not only that, but it puts Disney's streaming ambitions under intense scrutiny.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherOh, that's...bad. Like, really really bad.
But I'm rather confident Iger will figure something out.
(Maybe pay the $179 million? Or fire the executives involved in this scandal and find new ones? Not sure how feasible that last one is... )
They might be under contract, but then again, this might violate said contract, so perhaps he could fire them.
But yeah, this coming to light right now is bad, but it's even worse that they screwed over those actors. Seriously, why?
It's a classic case of Hollywood Accounting. It's an institutional problem in Hollywood because there are always those times where if a property becomes hugely successful, the studio wouldn't want to share those profits to the people involved because they want to make as much money as possible from it. Hence the screwing.
The problem with firing those two now is that there's no clear successor for them. Ben Sherwood, whom Rice will replace, will be gone by the time the deal closes, and the last thing Disney wants is for investors to face even more uncertainty from the long-term affects of the deal as there's no clear successor to Rice at the moment. Same goes for Walden, as Channing Dungey (whom headed ABC Entertainment until November) is also gone.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherDisney can't afford more problems with the deal at the finish line. Firing would mean not coughing up a lot of money.
Mileena MadnessAll this will be forgotten as soon as Captain Marvel brings in the money.
The money Captain Marvel makes is going to be used to pay for Captain Marvel. That’s a plan that’s been set for years and can’t just be aimed in a different trajectory in just a few weeks.
It's unfortunate that this is coming out now, especially since Brazil has now approved the merger under the condition that Disney sells the Fox Sports network. In fact, if things go well for Mexico, the deal could close next week.
Looks like potential consequences are beginning to creep in, but we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.
That's not what I meant. The stocks of Disney have a tendency to rise when they do particularly well at the box office.
Their studio segment isn't the company's core financial contributor, though. That would be the Media Networks unit, which Peter Rice is expected to run. Him being potentially scandal-tainted would gravely affect that division. And that's not even getting into the potential talent defections from ABC Entertainment once Dana Walden, who's also implicated in the fraud, takes over the reigns.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherNaturally not. But Stockholders are stupid. The finance market are stupid in general. Just observe how the markets go up everyone Trump makes some unfunded promise, even though we all know that he lies.
Disney was literally saved from a take-over by Finding Nemo...for context, while Disney didn't even own Pixar at this point, they had the distribution rights. Comcast wanted to buy Disney in a hostile take over and one huge reason why this failed was because Finding Nemo was so successful that the stocks went up.
So if Captain Marvel ensures that Disney's start in the year is profitable, it will do a lot to smooth everything over. And remember, Infinity War follows directly after. In a way, Disney couldn't have picked a better time for the merger to conclude.
That was the planned structure Disney announced:
•Peter Rice - Chairman, Walt Disney Television and Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks
◦Dana Walden - Chairman, Disney Television Studios and ABC Entertainment
◾Channing Dungey, President, ABC Entertainment
◾Patrick Moran, President, ABC Studios
◾Jonathan Davis and Howard Kurtzman, Presidents of Twentieth Century Fox Television
◾Bert Salke, President, Fox 21 Television Studios
◾Tom Ascheim, President, Freeform
◾Wendy Mc Mahon, President, ABC Owned Television Stations Group
◦Gary E. Knell, Chairman of National Geographic Partners
◦John Landgraf, Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions
◦Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide
◦James Goldston, President, ABC News
Basically Dana Walden was supposed to take over the whole Television segment, with only Peter Rive above her.
Guess they will have to make some additional changes.

In a bit of awkward-timed news, Disney is looking to buy AT&T's Hulu stake.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherHmm. Do you think Disney is looking to buy up Hulu completely and have it be just another streaming service for them? Because I enjoy watching the next day episodes that are on Hulu, which I'm not sure will stay if that happens.
Then again, with what Fox did with Bones, perhaps that's not a bad thing.
Yeah the people behind the Bones debacle are going to work at Disney post-merger so....
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherIronic really...
